Approx Dates of Stay: 7/20/03-7/25/03. Overall Campground Rating: fair-average. What stood out? Campground is very hilly, kids were not able to easily ride bikes from the campsite to the store/pool area. Activities were poorly run and not well organized. Owners and Staff: Staff was friendly, but inexperienced. Activities often started late and ended early. There was little or no instructions given for any of the activities. Owners were a bit harsh when dealing with the kids. One of the owners spoke very harshly to one of the children in our group, resulting in an exchange of some angry words with child's parent. Camp landscaping and surroundings: Camp ground was hilly, wooded for the most part, except for one large field reserved for tent camping. There is a main road separating this camp ground. The speed limit is 25 but traffic often speeded past at speeds of up to 50 mph. Keep an eye on the kiddies when near the store and the pool so as not to have an accident.
Overall Site Quality: very good. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable. Campsite Descriptions: wooded, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. Very find compact dirt sites around cabins, gravel roads, not well maintained, many pot holes. In need of some repair. Speed limit is 5 mph around the campground but cars often went faster and the speed limit was never enforced by staff or owners. For the most part the campground was very quiet.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? no. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: poor water pressure, hard to maintain water temperature. Activities and Amenities: pool, pond, fishing, boat rentals, recreation hall, video games, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, snack bar, laundry room, dumping station. They had 4 paddle boats to rent. Stocked pond for fishing. A recreation hall that often smelled of vomit. The store was well stocked and the snack bar was brand new and very clean, staff was not able to serve large crowds in a timely manner. Pool was very clean and well maintained; the Jacuzzi was great and for adults only (strictly enforced.) Plenty of lawn chairs. They had a great spray pool that the kids enjoyed very much. What is nearby? retail stores, nature trails. Last comments: I traveled with two other families and stayed in their rental cabins which were very clean, a little too far from the bathrooms. For July camping (prime time) I thought it a bit odd that there were many empty sites. It would have been a better trip if the staff were slightly older and trained better. I would not return to this Jellystone Park.
