Teri & Doug gave us this review on 08/22/06. Dates of Stay: 8/4-8/6/2006. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Motor Home - Size of Camping Unit: 35
Overall Campground Rating: very good.
What stood out? Good: Site sizes, store stock, mini golf, activities, pool, late check out option (6PM), free cable TV & fellow campers Bad: Coin operated showers (pain), COLD showers & no sewer.
Owners and Staff: Owners not present but manager friendly and are general staff. The Rec Staff were super! Carnival wknd was a hit. DJ was fun and friendly.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Dirt roads make it muddy when rained. Seasonal sites are nice! Lawns are mowed w/o time restrictions.
Overall Site Quality: very good
Good sites: We like the one surrounding pavillion --- they are large (back ins), central, & grassy/shady Bad sites: Beacuse of the massive hill, the ones down back/lower level are restricted to unit size. We camped there long ago w/ a smaller unit. Its quiet there but a long walk to store, pool, pond, arcade & golf.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, cable, Need sewer! Do have grey water. Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. We ended up at a site that was among a group og Good Sam campers, so we were glad to meet some new friends!
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers; Everyone waves! I love that!
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? don't remember. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: If I am paying, I would expect it to be warm or hot even. Its hard to send my 9 yr old son into shower, b/c he cant figure out the meter. He's too old for the ladies room. Bite the bullet & make 'em free.
Activities and Amenities
pool, pond, swimming, fishing, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, pets allowed, dumping station, security gate. Camp store saved us when re relized we had no toilet chemical. Hay ride! Old, but fun mini golf was only 50 cents!
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, nature trails. Gillette's Castle, Goodspeed Opera House & Devil's Hopyard St Pk
Last comments: A local all-time fav for us. They do the extended on-site Spring Fall deals. That is a bargain with gas prices these days!
