Scottish Warrior gave us this review on 11/01/05. Approx Dates of Stay: Various. What did you camp in? Tent

Overall Campground Rating: very good.

What stood out? It is a state forest but, there is a nice playground, PLENTY of tent sites, sorry no trailers. Free showers, HOT water, clean bathrooms, sometimes not so clean when packed. (Holiday Weekends)Plenty of Trails, large cedar lake, pavilion on beach, picnic tables and charcoal grills. 10.00 per carload on weekends, free during the week. Overnight tent (no electric) 24.00 per night.

Owners and Staff: Most VERY friendly and helpful. Rotating staff, sometimes you can get someone a little grouchy.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Pine needles over sand. Scrub Pines R US. Very very nice. Paved main road, and a few dirt roads. Tons of hiking trails.

Overall Site Quality: very good

Good/Bad sites: There is a map when you arrive, we prefer # 60, 70 or 71. At the end of the camping area, but still close enough for a 3 year old that waits to the last minute to make it to the bathroom. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, water, Campsite Descriptions: wooded, semi-private, close to the road, sandy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. I am 43, and having been camping here for 40 years. Rented cabins when I was little. Took my kids here both tent and cabin. And the year before last starting taking my grand daughters here.

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Clean, hot showers, flushies!!!

Activities and Amenities

pond, fishing, boating, playground, kids planned activities, laundry room,

What is nearby? grocery stores, amusements, nature trails. Seaside Heights is about 45 minute drive. Good on a Wed. Night if staying the week. Free fireworks during summer on Wed, not crowded.
