brenda gave us this review on 07/21/07. Dates of Stay: 8/2/06-8/9-06. Will You Return? No. What did you camp in? 5th Wheel Trailer - Size of Camping Unit: 36 ft
Overall Campground Rating: horrible.
What stood out? Campground is in a beautiful area in Maine. Lake is also very nice. The managers on the other hand are not nice. They drive by your campsite every 10 minutes in an old beat up primer gray car with skulls and bones flag attached. We never saw him wave a gesture of hello. We stayed during the week and it was slow. We were the only family on the beach and our boys were yelled at right in front of us by this "friendly" man. When we asked what the problem was he yelled at us. We are a very quiet nondrinking nonsmoking family. Way too many seasonals, which made me feel like I was intruding on their space. They kicked out a very nice lady across the road from us because her dog got loose a few times. Dog was friendly and never bothered anyone. We camp alot in the summer and we will never go back here. We were reading the rules on the porch of the store and the owner came right up to us and asked if there was a problem, he knew that we were not happy with the campground. We could not wait to leave, we had prepaid for the week and they wouldn't refund our $$ so we stuck it out.....but never never again.
Owners and Staff: Very unfriendly and rude.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Beautiful lake and the town is very quaint. We did a lot of jogging and the area is quite nice.
Overall Site Quality: very good
Good sites: site are nice, ours was level and private. They did have nice sites on the waterfront. Bad sites: Out back area looked a little bad, clutter
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. no highway noise...but there is a all girls camp across the lake and you do hear the trumpet at morning rise time, lunch, and bedtime. Really didn't bother us, we love kids and loved watching them have fun....because we weren't!!!!
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, cluttered, snobby seasonal campers, some seasonal sites neat....others looked cluttered
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes.
Activities and Amenities
lake, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, pool table, playground, camp store, pets allowed, laundry room, video room is very outdated, dark and dingy. Our boys age 14 were bored. They were watched by managers and staff constantly.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, we enjoy the area...drive in theater 1/2 hour away. Nice towns to explore.
Last comments: Everyone has different reasons for liking or disliking a campground. We know that we were treated terribly by this campground and again never will we return.

We stayed here last summer to attend a concert nearby and would not go back. Our biggest gripe was the road going into the campground. It was one mile of nothing but ruts and holes in the ground. We experienced a tire blowout on our way home, and know that was the reason why. Lots of rusty seasonal rigs there too.
Posted by Dianne on 07/25/07We stayed at Vacationland three summer’s ago. It’s where I camped as a child. We found the campground needed major updating and there was not a lot to do for the kids. The beach/lake area was nice. We had a few conversations with the owner and some seasonals - we found them very friendly and nice. I agree the road going into the campground was not good.
