Approx Dates of Stay: 2 night, 3 days...July 9-11 2004. Overall Campground Rating: very good. What stood out? The numerous activities set up so the entire family has something to do, no matter what the ages are. Also the pools, rec center, playgrounds are neat and continuously monitored by staff memebers. Owners and Staff: The staff was friendly and helpful. They need to enforce their rules and guidelines since there are so many people, young and old around. There was constant supervision of pools and grounds. Camp landscaping and surroundings: This place is HUGE!!! There are well maintaned "permanant" sites which are landscaped beautifully and the reg sites for tents and "visting" rv/campers are varied from slightly wooded to very wooded. The pool and playgrounds, softball field, bocce court, basketball court,etc...etc are all maintained well. Their is a horse stable as you enter the park and that is also well kept....(nothing stinky going on.)
Overall Site Quality: very good. Good/Bad site #'s: 60-63- nice sites...alittle too much traffic. The sites for tents,pop-ups etc..are 70-?? which are much better. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, sewer, cable, other computer Campsite Descriptions: wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, The only thing with the first sites on the "main" BLVD are the cars driving to and from the Mainhouse. There is a 8mph speed limit enforced but not everyone follows the rules. There is alot of foot traffic and early auto noise due to workers coming in and papers being delivered. Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, too many seasonal sites. There are ALOT of campers(permanents)(some are kinda "cliky") when you first drive in but this campground is HUGE so it is no "overly"crowded... there is no "alone" time in the hot-tub though so not a "honeymoon" site.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: The bathrooms, rec center and all activities are mainly accessible to those in tents and "non-perm" rvs since they are the ones who need to walk the most. Most of the full-timers are all equipped with golf-carts.
Activities and Amenities: pool, swimming, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, The pools(2 family size, 1 under 2yrs old) and 21-over Pool/Hot-Tubs are very nice and the staff is continuously checking levels. What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails. Mystic,Foxwoods, Exeter(RI)beach, Trading Posts, etc...there are brochures in the Store of places to go.
