Marlene gave us this review on 08/26/06. Dates of Stay: Aug. 21-25, 2006. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Hybrid Trailer - Size of Camping Unit: 23"
Overall Campground Rating: excellent.
What stood out? Beautiful beach at Lake Ontario. The sand is white and powdery, and you go over the dunes to access the beach. You feel like your at the ocean.
Owners and Staff: Staff was very nice. Good security since the police drove through alot, even giving tickets to those without permits visible in thier cars.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Beautiful surroundings - forest, dunes, Lake Ontario, the Outlet river.
Overall Site Quality: very good
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, The nicest campsites (in the Outlets) are without services. Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, close to the road, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. Most sites are large and spacious. The roads, however, have many holes and are very narrow. Not easy to drive around...
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: No seasonals.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Everyone uses the restrooms in our area and it was cleaned from 12-1 and 10-11 pm, so stayed pretty clean considering the traffic.
Activities and Amenities
lake, river, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, docks or moorings, live entertainment, playground, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, snack bar, pets allowed, dumping station, security gate. This is a Provincial Park, so no pool, but who needs it with that beautiful beach!
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, nature trails. The historic town of Picton (very quaint)is maybe 25 minutes away.
Last comments: We had to reserve in January to secure a site. I like to try different places, but will go back one day.
