Karen & Dave gave us this review on 06/28/04.

Approx Dates of Stay: 6/23/04-6/27/04. Overall Campground Rating: excellent. What stood out? We stayed across the street from the Main Entrance and the sites are the best we've seen, very large, private and wooded. We only got to go to the Beach twice because we didn't have great weather but the Beach was very nice and clean and good size. I really can't say anything bad about this campground, we loved everything about it. Owners and Staff: The staff is very friendly and helpful. The owner,Rocky is just a great guy. We had gone up there in April just to inspect the campground and we can't say enough about him, plus he's a very funny guy that you feel like you've known him forever. Camp landscaping and surroundings: The landscaping is very basic and simple, but everything is kept up and is clean and that's what matters to us.

Overall Site Quality: excellent. Good/Bad site #'s: My husband and I walked around alot checking out the sites and I would have to say that we didn't see any real bad one. They're all very wooded and large, especially across the way. The ones around the pond seem very nice, but we like it a little more quiet, so it really just depends what you prefer. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, picnic table, fire ring, I really didn't see amny sites that were sunny & open, but that's not saying that there might be a few. You might get a little more road noise when you have a site closer to the main road because it is very busy. Some sites have Dining Shelters or Kitch-N Bath on them which is a plus. Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, I have to say we didn't see many seasonals and the ones that were there you'd really have to go look for.

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Seemed to always be kept clean. The kids would find a few bugs in the showers when they went down but I think you have to expect this.

Activities and Amenities: pond, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, tv or movies, playground, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, We just can't wait to go back to Papoose. Even though the weather wasn't great we still had a good time. We found plenty to do in the area and there are a few big stores around. The kids thought the playground was the best they've seen and they really spent alot of time there. The Camp Store had just about everything you'd need and also the snack bar served a good variety of food. What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, amusements, Plenty of things nearby. My husband took our son to the Speedway in Oxford which was only about 20 minutes away and we went bowling one day. There are a couple of small Fun Parks in the area also. Last comments: Again, we loved the campground and can't wait to return.
