Mike gave us this review on 08/10/03.

Approx Dates of Stay: 8/4-8/9/2003. Overall Campground Rating: fair-average. What stood out? The campground had come highly recommended, but I found the sites to be on the small side, although there are some trees/brush between you and your neighbor. Quiet hours are not enforced. Owners and Staff: Run by the DEC, the staff was mostly courteous and helpful. The DEC patrol car was highly visible during the day, but absent at night. Camp landscaping and surroundings: Wooded sites, a few with lake views. Many hiking trails in and around the camp.

Overall Site Quality: fair-average. Campsite hookups: primitive tent. Campsite Descriptions: wooded, semi-private, somewhat small, picnic table, fire ring, Dirt bottom, but not muddy despite the rain.

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Some loops have newer restrooms with outside dish washing sinks. The others don't really need updating, but could be updated to match the newer ones. Restroom floors were perpetually wet, and therefore muddy, because the cleaning staff left the floor wet when done. Activities and Amenities: lake, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, tv or movies, kids planned activities, pets allowed, dumping station. There are actually 2 beaches for swimming and the fishing is very good. The lifeguards were somewhat rude. What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, amusements, nature trails. Area of high tourism and winter skiing. Last comments: Not the nicest state campground, but acceptable. I probably won't go there again.
