Overall Campground Rating: fair-average.
What stood out? Excellent daily activities for the kids. Lots of things to do and many never leave the campground itself!
Owners and Staff: The staff was always very friendly. But not always responsive when a complaint or suggestion was given to them.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: The grounds from the entrance to the poolside edge of the frog ponds are neat, clean, and always look nice. On the other side of the frog pond are dirt sites with little grass or shade.
Overall Site Quality: fair-average
Good/Bad sites: Any site between the frog pond and the river is undesirable. Most have little or no shade. The bugs on that side are blood thirsty and relentless. That area is not sprayed for bugs. But anything on the other side of the frog pond has at least some shade and is an area where the bugs are controlled! Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, large and spacious, somewhat small, close to the road, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, Stay away from the river and frog pond sites. Request to be under the pines where it's bug controlled, cleaner, cooler and closer to all activities.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? no. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Where we were was a 12 minute walk to the nearest bathroom or a 5 minute walk to a porta-potty that had no night time lighting. Full bathrooms are needed near the river/frog pond sites desperately.
Activities and Amenities
pool, river, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, AM coffee, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. Two swimming pools, beach area along river. Other area on river to rent boats or put in your own kayaks/canoes.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails. All within 5 to 10 miles/minutes into Warrensburg, Lake George Village or Bolton Landing.
Last comments: I doubt we'd return. The long walk to the bathrooms really upset my wife. The lack of bug control where we were was uncalled for. We went thru nearly 3 cans of bug repellent in the very short time we were there. It's too bad since I've heard and read many really good things about the campground!
