Approx Dates of Stay: 8/12/04 to 8/15/04. Overall Campground Rating: fair-average. What stood out? Great Pocono setting, unfortunately the campgound has a confusing, here and there layout. Two town roads run thru the resort and private residences on camp roads adds to the confusion. Owners and Staff: 8th generation Keen family members manage the resort, very friendly. The family bought the property in 1814. Camp landscaping and surroundings: Very wooded, somewhat hilly, lots of ground water is evident.
Overall Site Quality: fair-average. Good/Bad site #'s: In the "TOM" area, 62 thru56 are good Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, highway noise, group camping area. Confusing site numbering system, annoying extra charges for cable, a/c, or portable heater, all $2 each per day Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, Scattered thru resort. Seasonals are also nickel and dimed to death. Lots of "extra charges" for all sorts of things including inflatable boat on site, and kids over 17.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? . Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Showers are horrible, horrendous mist/spray of water in an effort to conserve, no ability to adjust temp. Hard to rinse long hair. Arcade area bathouse needs renovations badly.
Activities and Amenities: pool, lake, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, Lousy lake to swim, nice pool, felt nickel and dimed to death with store candy and rentals, and everything in general (they charge for the hayride/trainride). Top rate kids activity program, nice playground, excellent ceramics. What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, nature trails. Lots of local history in the area. Easy to major interstates. Last comments: We had fun here, but hey Keen Sisters, back off on all the extra charges for everything. The place is nice, but not that nice.
