Marzie gave us this review on 06/20/06. Approx Dates of Stay: June 16th-19th 2006. What did you camp in? Travel Trailer
Overall Campground Rating: fair-average.
What stood out? Bridge access to sites on Loop drive and Lower Lake Drive needs improvement very difficult to maneuver turns off this bridge. Patches of concrete on one side of bridge a hazard to RV's manauvering. Bridge needs to be widened.
Owners and Staff: Most friendly, one young staff girl unfriendly.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Must climb HILL to get to recreation such as swimming, shuffle board, Tennis, bastketball court and Laundry facilities. Climb a shorter hill to Office and store, rec room and pavillion. Boating and Fishing lake filled with algae throughout very difficult for inexperience fishing people such as kids to manage without losing it all. Needs MAJOR LAKE cleaning. Beware of the 2 snakes...told staff(boy in office) basically called a liar.
Overall Site Quality:
Good/Bad sites: Loop drive even number 102 to 108 sites decent size to accomodate 33' campers but hard to get over bridge access. Loop drive sites 103,105 & 107 for pop op only lenght short. Site 106 can't handle elctric output breaker outside trips often with air and microwave on together. Lower Lake View Drive sites all decent. Site 7 great Pop up site. Tenter sites bigger than pop up sites. Site 205 shouldn't ever be used..was friend's assigned site for pop-up who couldn't get in this site for nothing. HE has been camping 26 years of experience site 205 bad. Upper Society Hill sites nice however sites 206 to 208 must contend with SEWER odor 24 hours a day. Another RV friend was on site 206 during our stay. You Decide! Our site on Loop drive was better than our 2 RV friends at other locations on Cabin Drive and Upper Society Hill. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, picnic table, fire ring, Site map doesn't denote what sites accomodate for hook-ups. Map doesn't show end of site waterways or deep drop offs as seen behind all even number Loop drive sites. Sites C1 to C24 all open sunny grassy sites only water and electric sites but on top of hill y would need to walk down steep hill to store, rec rooom, pavillion of activites and fishing area. Cabins 6 & 7 deluxe with A/C with all amenities and located at of Woodpecker Lan above seasonals.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: cluttered, friendly campers, Seasonals found on Woodpecker Lane and Upper Lake view Drive. Few found on Lower Lake View Drive in 120's sites...very clean sites in 120's.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? no. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: NOT enough bath houses for all areas of campers. $1.00 for 8 minutes or 50c for 2 minutes. First minute cold water per friends that cmaped in pop-up.
Activities and Amenities
pool, lake, swimming, fishing, boat rentals, docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, Father's day dinner EXCELLENT, plenty to eat and nominal fee of $7.50 except Dad's was not bad for all that was provided. The dinner was delicious.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, Located IN Lancaster County Only 25 minutes from Rockvale Outlets, 20 minutes from Shady Maple smorgasborg, 15 minutes from Weaversville store or ten minutes from Weaver's framer's market store.
Last comments: Campers with physical handicaps would do better at another campground. All sewer sites don't have cap over them when not in use.
