Overall Campground Rating: very good.
What stood out? Good: Fun filled day of activities. Very helpful staff. Many free activities. Bad: We pulled into the campground and were stopped at the entrance and questioned about how many children we had and if we had AC. They charged extra for AC and per child. The site rental only covered 2 adults (which is a pet peeve of mine). We had never stayed at this campground before and when we drove to our original sites, I was very disgusted. My sister and I reserved together and we both have larger units. They put us in sites that were so small, together they were the size of one site at an average campground. If we had stayed in the sites, when she put her unit in and put her awning out, it would have coved the septic hookup of the camper next to her. There was a loop of campsites that were very small, and the bottom was stone...It was a very bad first impression. I was honestly ready to leave. Lucky for us they did change our sites to much nicer ones.
Owners and Staff: Very friendly, helpful, and polite.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Set in Amish Country, in the Lancaster area of Pennsylvania. Surrounded by woods and set on a rolling hill, it is a very pretty campground.
Overall Site Quality: very good
Good/Bad sites: The sites on Loop Drive are not nice. The rest seemed to be very nice. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: wooded, semi-private, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring,
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? no. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: They were pretty spread out through the campground. We stayed on Upper Society Rd, and there were no bathroom facilities close by. The showers were very expensive.
Activities and Amenities
pool, pond, swimming, fishing, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. Large, well stocked camp store & snack bar. Nice pool, free, mini golf, basketball, tennis courts, shuffel board. Many planned activities for family.
What is nearby? Lancaster Area of PA.
Last comments: A very bad first impression that was quickly turned around thanks to the friendly and helpful staff. If we had to keep the original sites we had, I would have left the campground. We actually had a nice weekend. I did not care for being charged extra for my children and AC, that is just one thing I do not agree with. I look at camping as a family activity, and in most homes a family does include children. Even if they base their fees on two adults and two children, I would not mind (we have three shildren). After the weekend, I would probably go back.
