connie gave us this review on 08/09/07. Dates of Stay: july 2007. Will You Return? No. What did you camp in? Travel Trailer

Overall Campground Rating: not good.

What stood out? good: planned activity in a rec hall. very pleasant and fun staff. bad: checking in at main office. staff there seemed unfriendly and curt to customers!

Owners and Staff: i assume the taller woman in the office was the owner. she was just as unfriendly as the shorter blonde woman.both seamed to not want to be there!

Camp landscaping and surroundings: grounds are well kept. pool is large but not very heated and not kept crystal clear.no lounge chairs available. boy lifeguard seemed pre-occupied!

Overall Site Quality: very good

Good sites: w area very wooded and cool all day. most seasonal sites were well kept. Bad sites:

Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, close to the road, pine needle bottom, picnic table, group camping area. could be raked better.

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, some are really enjoyable to see!

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: best showers are by the office. nicest and more modern bathrooms are in the rec hall.

Activities and Amenities

pool, pond, swimming, fishing, boat rentals, recreation hall, video games, pool table, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. video games outdated. owners pets allowed to roam freely without regard to campers and sunbathers! dog deficates at will on lawn!

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, nature trails. weekly group trips avaiable, most at group discounts!

Last comments: it's too bad that the first people campers encounter when checking in aren't nicer....makes a camper think twice about returning!

  1. Visit was 8/10-8/12/07-
Checked in Friday around early afternoon. The woman behind the desk was the rudest person I have ever met. If I haden’ paid for my reservation already I would have left then. I was given a map to find my site. I was put in W area.
The area was very wooded and dark, no sunlight and lots of bugs. The people that camped there were very friendly, very helpful, and offered to share. I wish the people in the office were as nice.
That night there was no planned activity so you were left to your own devices. The “barn” were all the games are is old. The games were outdated. That night there were several people in the other room setting up for a penny social. They were very, very nice. They explained what a penny social was and would we be attending. I said I didn’t think so because I have small children, the lady said I could bring them. OK I would come. It seemed those people were trying to make a good impression.
On Saturday morning My family went to the restrooms to take showers and they were ancient. So when they came back not washed I was upset. The fact that she charges so much to camp there and not have modern bathrooms is terrible.
The land is well kept. For the most part it is well kept and clean. The men that work there are very helpful especially Joe, he helped us.
That night we went to the penny social and everyone was very helpful. That was a treat.
I don’t think I would come back because of the two woman in the office. If they should ever leave I would though because the other people who work and volunteer were all very nice to my family.

  2. I just happened to pick up on this web site and after reading the above review and the comment, I felt compelled to comment myself.
I camped here too this year,  and found the same nasty women in the office. I hope “connie” isn’t correct that one of them was the owner because that just wouldn’t be right! After checking in,I stayed as far away from the office staff as possible and had a very nice stay there. They were having a dinner of Italian food that my family and I went to that was so great I couldn’t believe it! Excellent home made food and great desserts at a cheap price! When dinner was over, we had a really fun night of games and a lot of laughs. The staff there was very friendly and accomidating! Later that night back at my campsite, we had the radio on, I guess it WAS a little too loud for after eleven so the night security guard stopped and politely asked us to lower it. He was so nice about it, not bossy or pushy, we just had to comply! It was nice to know that a security guy was riding around. We heard his golf cart go thru our area several of times.
