exeter, new hampshire -

rv n ray gave us this review on 07/24/10. Dates of Stay: 7/16 - 7/23. Will You Return? No. What did you camp in? Travel Trailer - Size of Camping Unit: 26 feet

Overall Campground Rating: not good.

What stood out? bugs, bugs and more bugs. The facility was run down. I guess the owners are new( about 2 years) but there is a lot of work to do. Like someone said in an earlier review bugs followed you every where. Exetre river is not a river it ie water standin still. a breeding ground for mosquitoes. They are vicious. We had repellent candels and a fire going and we still got eaten alive. The seasonals basicaly do what they want. Our first night they where partying till about 3am. On Saturday went to the pool with the kids to go swimming and the seasonal hadthe entire pool no room for us so we went back to the camper. Restrooms need a loy of work. Coin operated showers. 25 cents for a 2.5 minute shower. Only problem it took the first 25 cents to get the hot water to work.

Owners and Staff: Very nice. Very helpful. The only problem is that they do not obey their own rules. 5 mph in the campground they where going about 10 - 15 mph. They would drive through stop signs and go the wrong way down a one way.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: old. pool needs some work. One set of restrooms very dirty and outdated.

Overall Site Quality: fair-average

Good sites: do not know of any. Bad sites: to many to mention.

Campsite hookups: electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, large and spacious, picnic table, fire ring,

Cell Phone Service: great cell phone service. made many calls and not one was droped.

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: cluttered, too many seasonal sites. some of the campers need up dateing or a good power washing.some seasonals where friendly and others would not acknowlage you where there.drove by a horseshoe pit with a few seasonals sitting around and on the picnic table was a 1.75 ltr of vodka along with a couple of coolers. could not complain because the owner was there with them.

Clean restrooms and showers? no. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? don't remember.

Activities and Amenities

pool, pond, boat rentals, video games, theme weekends, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. Payed a $10.00 refundable fee for a gate key. Only problem the gate was broken all weekend and I did not use the key at all.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, about 8 mile to hampton beach. not a bad ride during week days but would recomend that you stay away from hampton beach during weekends.
