Overall Campground Rating: horrible.
Owners and Staff: This campground may be the most beautiful, have the best amenities, and the cleanest bathrooms around...however, I would never stay there! The office staff and telephone operators are very rude and unfriendly. The owner was not much better. I booked a cabin at Clearwater campground for 4 people. We had six people in our group and were told the 2 extra could stay “across the street” and have full access to our campground. This seemed like a great idea! We booked our cabin and said we would call back to book our friends for "across the street". When called 1 hour later, a different person said 1) Those two people will have to pay 4 dollars each time they enter to see you 2) They need to leave at a certain time. All of sudden they made it sound really difficult to see our friends and really this place "across the street" is an entirely different place. After a rude office worker gave us a run-down of the rules, we cancelled our original reservation. If a simple phone conversation went this bad, I do not want to stick around and see what would have happened had we stayed there. They also would not refund us our full amount and withheld a 10% cancellation fee for a charge that never actually went through (1 hour had passed). The owner of this campground should be ashamed of themselves. I will never recommend this campground to anyone.
Disclaimer: The campground owner contacted me insisting that the initial reservation was made for Meredith Woods CG, not Clearwater. I have been in contact with the reviewer, and she is certain that she called Clearwater to make the reservations, and her credit card was charged by Clearwater.
I really see no difference, since she had planned to make reservations at both campgrounds, and her complaint wasn't necessarily against the campground itself, but against the poor customer service at Clearwater campground. Both campgrounds are owned by the same corporation.

Did you pay your deposit by credit card? If so, I would dispute the charges.
If what you are saying is true, they weren’t upfront with the visitor access, so needless to say, you are entitled to a full refund.
Call your credit card company, you have nothing to lose!

Last Columbus Day weekend we stayed here and also had trouble with the staff being completely rude. We were at the dump station and accidentally blocked the driveway. There were no other cars around and the owner came by. She could have very easily parked on the grass in front of the office, but she actually made us stop what we were doing, move our traveler, and start over so she could put her car in the lot. She then stood in the road a talked with someone for the entire time we were finishing up. There was no need for her to make us move. I will never return to this campground because of this.

This was one of the first campgrounds we visited (I love that part of NH).
It is really a very nice campground with good size sites set in the pine trees, but it’s run like a prison camp by a very rude staff. Really disappointing!Posted by Nautique on 08/13/07
