Fred gave us this review on 08/21/06. Dates of Stay: 07/2006. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Tent
Overall Campground Rating: excellent.
What stood out? Nice sites and lake. We have little kids (3, 5 and 8) so the onsite hiking and canoeing/kayaking was great.
Owners and Staff: Very friendly and accomodating. Check in was a breeze. When we got to our site we weren't sure if we liked the location. Within a few minutes of parking someone was by to check on us and when we mentioned our concerns took me around to a few other open sites to look at. We ended up deciding to stay at the first site which ended up being great, but it was nice to be given the option (we were mid week, so I wouldn't expect many open sites over the weekend).
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Many shaded sites with many trees. Can see into neighboring sites, but through foliage.
Overall Site Quality: excellent
Good sites: 51-56
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer; Campsite Descriptions: wooded, semi-private, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. I didn't make it though the entire campground, but there is a seasonal area that looked very well kept, with many campers having "beautified" there sites with fences, gnomes, etc.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Clean, but the hot water was out on one side for a day. There was no sign about this, but they did get it fixed.
Activities and Amenities
lake, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, recreation hall, video games, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, pets allowed, laundry room, security gate.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, nature trails. We went to Mt. Washington and N. Conway Outlets and passed by Storyland. All were within 45 minutes. Pizza Barn was good, but the pepperoni was a bit spicy for the kids (who normally love it. The Yankee smokehouse was a great place to take the kids, although I have had better BBQ.
Last comments: We really enjoyed staying at CCV and will likely go again next year. Our site neighbors were nice and friendly and helped make it a great trip

Sounds like a GREAT place. I really want to stay there at some point. Perhaps I’ll have to do a “camp out” there for a night in our tent and hike Mt. Chocura again.
Would that be silly where we are seasonal at Danforth Bay 10 miles down the street?
Posted by NewEnglandCamper on 08/22/06We camped at Chochura this year and stayed on site 94 and 95, we really enjoyed our stay. There were a lot of things to keep our younger kids busy (Arts and Crafts, walking trails etc)When we went the pool was not open yet. We are planning on going back next year.
