Katia gave us this review on 07/22/07. Dates of Stay: July 21-23 2007. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Tent

Overall Campground Rating: excellent.

What stood out? The friendly staff, The cozy winding roads through the camp ground,it just seemed like we were in a movie about the perfect campground!

Owners and Staff: I think these people need a raise. Do they ever sleep? Jim and Sue were awesome with the crafts ! It was "Christmas in July" when we were there. All in one day there was a sewing class, a christmas craft, a tie dye craft, and an ice cream smorgasborg<sp.? then Santa and Mrs. Claus came to town with gifts for all the kids, then a hayride(driven by Santa) then there was a movie. Wow! If your kids ever get bored here , they're hard to please.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Like I said before,it was like stepping onto a movie set where they created the perfect camp ground ,I wouldn't have changed a thing. Lots of trees surrounding the camp sites. The main road in was paved, but the rest is dirt (which I liked)it had a more rustic feeling. There are lots of hills and turns to make biking more like mountain biking,Fun! (leave your 10 speeds at home)there is a pretty pond in walking distance. Definately rent a boat ,it's very inexpensive. If you're in the mood for a refreshing swim, go to lake Chocorua ,the swimming is okay at the camp but there is better out there.

Overall Site Quality: excellent

Good sites: all Bad sites: none

Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, cable, wifi not sure about sewer we were in a tent Campsite Descriptions: wooded, semi-private, somewhat small, close to the road, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. My only beef was that only one car could be parked at the site. But there is a spill over lot that they will be happy to take you to (plus you get a ride on a golf cart, which is always fun!)

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: The showers were a little difficult to find , They are behind barn doors, which have no signs, but they are very cleverly designed.

Activities and Amenities

pool, pond, river, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. My 8 year old daughter ,who is a times difficult to please-Said it was the best campground ever!!All my kids loved all the planned activities. The bell is rung every time there is something going on. You really never have to leave-everything is there! If there is something you want that they don't have ,you can go to Market in the Pines, just south of the camp ground.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails. You are really centrally located to either head north to no. conway or the Kanc. or just as easily you can jump on Rt. 25 west and go to the Lakes region where there are some beautiful old towns and Weirs Beach is always fun.

Last comments: I used to live in Tamworth when I was in High school, and I must have driven by this camp ground a thousand times, and I never knew what was beyond that famous sign, and now I know- it's the greatest place on earth! My family will visit here again and again,we're creating some memories for the children that will be forever theirs. My husband and I had never camped before this year, I can't believe a child could ever miss these kinds of memories that chocorua camping village helped to create! Thank you.

  1. We loved this campground as well. I will be coming back. We have camped for years and this is by far the best campground I have ever been to. We loved, loved, loved everything about it-the staff, the location, the view, the activities, I could go on and on. I am glad someone else appreciated this campground as much as we did.
