Overall Campground Rating: fair-average.
What stood out? Lots of activities. Playground equipment is definitely not safe...I am quite sure those spinny merry go round things have been outlawed, and my son cut himself inside the hand-constructed tunnels. Decent rec hall for a campground of this size.
Owners and Staff: A little too heavily "policed" by owners. (They drive by and linger during your late nite campfire...many times. ) I'm sure they mean well, but it's a little overboard.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Nice surroundings. All sites I saw were dirt or mud bottom though. A couple seasonal people (very friendly, by the way) told me their site is literally underwater after a rainstorm.
Overall Site Quality: fair-average
Good sites: Not sure if I would recommend one over another.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: wooded, picnic table, fire ring,
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, cluttered, friendly campers, Some people really took pride in their sites...others clearly do not.
Clean restrooms and showers? no. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? no. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Very, very buggy. At a state campground (our usual choice) you see the staff cleaning the corners with a broom every morning. This does not happen here...kinda yucky.
Activities and Amenities
pond, swimming, fishing, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, AM coffee, snack bar, pets allowed, security gate. Pond looked pretty, but was too slimy for me.
What is nearby? A bit desolate. Everything in nearby town (Hillsdale) closes very early.

My family and I stayed at Waubeeka this past June and I did notice that a few sites were flooded after a rainstorm. I agree that the Rec hall is nice. I do wish there was a little more seating though. My kids loved the video games. Too many pinball machines. Does anyone play pinball anymore? I definitely agree about the playground equipment! I hope they update the equipment soon. I too was surprised to see the merry-go-round.
I only saw the owners at my site once and that was to let us know about a heavy storm that was on the way.Posted by Stacey on 07/21/06We stayed at Camp Waubeeka Memorial Day weekend. Found the owners to be very friendly and accessible—never got the “hovering” feeling. The seasonal folks and camp workers were hands down the friendliest I’ve met at any campground. There is a park adjacent with a ball field that my kids loved. Free wireless internet. The swimming area was very small and geared toward young children. Fishing was great. If they had a pool, we’d consider a seasonal.
