Approx Dates of Stay: October 4-6, 2002. Overall Campground Rating: excellent. What stood out? Very nice and spacious campsites with A+ activities for all (not just kids). Owners and Staff: Everyone was friendly! The new (or new to us) activity directory (Stevie) was blast! He was friendly friendly and had a great sense of humor. The people in the store were friendly as well. Camp landscaping and surroundings: Lovely lake and pond with nice spacious sites. Wooded area.
Overall Site Quality: very good. Good/Bad site #'s: Field sites are rather cramped. Wooded sites are nice. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer. Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. Most of the sites are large spacious and quite nice. Sites near the lake are ideal especially if you like fishing. The only negative comments on the sites are this: for W/E sites this only has 20AMP service. It would be impossible to run AC. Some of the sites have the fire pit in the wrong position and are not movable (however I think this is done with consideration of the lake view.)
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating?
no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional
comments on restrooms and showers: Lots of restrooms and they are all modern.
I think they have been updated with the past couple of years. Showers were HOT and
FREE. This is one campground that has TOO MANY SHOWERS! I Never have waited in the
3 trips that I've been there. One negative comment: They need SOAP and PAPER TOWELS
or hand dryer.
Activities and Amenities: pond, lake, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals,
docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo,
tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice
cream, AM coffee, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security
gate. They could use a pool. Game room is ALL NEW, however they could use new arcade
games. They do have bumper cars (yes bumper cars) in the game room, however these
are only opened during scheduled times. The ACTIVITIES are A+++. Maybe even better
than Yogi Bear Jellystone. They had a nice dance in the dance hall that all the kids
enjoyed. What is nearby? Nothing is really nearby. Sebago Lake may be close.
They do have a good store for the necessities. Mountains in NH is probably 45 minutes
away. Last comments: Acres of Wildlife is truly a GREAT campground and the
owners have definitely invested in this campground with infrastructure improvements.
It was great to see the new game room and the new roof over the patio area. The sites
are really nice too. The only negative comments are that they could use a pool for
those that don't like lake/pond swimming (especially in drought conditions). Some
soap and paper in the bathroom please. Its also difficult to get there. Its a difficult
45 minutes towing ride from I95, however once you are there planned to be entertained
and have some fun or JUST relax and enjoy nature. AOW is recommended!
