Overall Campground Rating: very good.
What stood out? Overall we had a very good experience at Moose Brook. The campground was very quiet except for some heavy machinery noise that began as early as 6am every day except for Sunday. I believe it may have to do with the sand/gravel quarry down the street, but I am not certain of that. The drive to area attractions is less than an hour. We didn't make use of any of the walking trails or ponds on site. The camp store has very basic supplies, but they do carry firewood and ice. One evening, they were out of ice and they weren't sure when the next delivery would be. It is a short drive into town where there are a few places to pick up things.
Owners and Staff: The staff was very pleasant.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Most sites on the campground appear to be within the trees and heavily shaded. There were a number of sites that were more on a grassy field and more out in the open. A brook runs behind the campground and behind some of the sites.
Overall Site Quality: excellent
Good sites: There appeared to be very few bad sites. I can say with certainty that 14 is a great site. Private (at a dead end) and very spacious. 9, 11-13, 15 were also very private and appeared to be spacious as well. Bad sites: Although not necessarily bad sites, 38-40A are close together and out in the open.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent. Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, somewhat small, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area.
Cell Phone Service: Verizon cell phones worked perfectly
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: For camping, the restroom and shower facilities were perfect. They could have had one more shower house to accomodate all of the guests during their busier times. The showers were 25 cents for 2.5 minutes.
Activities and Amenities
pond, swimming, fishing, camp store, pets allowed
What is nearby? restaurants, amusements, nature trails. There are many things to do in the White Mountains. Plenty to do and see!

Overall Campground Rating: fair-average.
What stood out? Campground overlooks Lake Mascoma and hills surrounding. Small beach is just across the street. Very quiet atmosphere. Crowded feeling-- seasonal and big rig sites are one on top of another. Water/electric sites are nothing special.
Owners and Staff: We were pleased that owner kicked an obnoxious large group of cabin campers out of the campground after a very loud, late night.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Sites are very close together. Minimal views of lake from tenting and pop-up sites. Setting is hilly. Have to be able to walk fairly steep hill to use the restrooms. Restroom not very close to tenting and pop-up sites.
Overall Site Quality: fair-average
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, somewhat small, close to the road, picnic table, fire ring,
Cell Phone Service: We had cell service at our site near top of campground and at beach.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Small shower stalls but lots of hot water.
Activities and Amenities
lake, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, playground, pets allowed, laundry room,
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, nature trails. Located close to VT border, so lots of options for day trips.

Mark gave us this review on 09/02/08. Dates of Stay: 08/29/2008. Will You Return? No. What did you camp in? Tent
Overall Campground Rating: horrible.
What stood out? Bathrooms and showers were dirty and smelly and in need of repair. No sign of toilet paper when it ran out. Some sites were seasonal and were unkept and filthy. Front office is an unattractive trailer. Our site had trash all around, even in the fire pit. Loud parties went on until 2am, sound echoes through the woods. My 3 kids, all under the age of 10, could not sleep. No apparent "quiet time" rules. Not recommended for families. More for the 20-something party canoe crowd.
Owners and Staff: I met two staff members who were polite.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: The Saco River and the beach at Canal Bridge is the attraction. The best time we had was swimming in the Saco. But, once you return to the campground in the trees, your happiness is replaced with disgust. The first thing you see is a broken down golf cart with the seats torn up, big blue or brown tarps covering who knows what.
Overall Site Quality: terrible
Good sites: None Bad sites: All
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water Campsite Descriptions: wooded, somewhat small, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring,
Cell Phone Service: Sprint service worked fine.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: Cluttered, run down old golf cart, tarps covering something, trailers old and moldy-looking.
Clean restrooms and showers? no. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: I would not let my kids brush their teeth in there. They used the water hookup next to our site instead. Could not breathe due to the smell in the restrooms.
Activities and Amenities
river, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, camp store; Camp store had a few items, but I would not trust it was fresh. Playgroud was 2 swings on an old, rusty swingset. One camper lady told us she had been coming there for years and has noticed the deterioration over the past few years due to the new management. The town of Fryeburg needs to step in. Either that or the Board of Health.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, nature trails. North Conway shopping is 15 minutes away.
Last comments: My family will not stay there again until I hear many positive reviews. It is shame because they have access to one of the nicest beaches on the Saco River.

Overall Campground Rating: not good.
What stood out? When we booked our reservation, I specifically asked the attendant on the phone if your Campground Eastern Slopes Campground, (the company), accepted dogs and the person to whom I was speaking said “yes”. She didn’t mention any other restrictions - only that we would need to present proof that our dog received her rabies shot (which we presented on arrival 8/29/2008 approximately 8:00pm.) Our dog is part of our family and our kids really love her companionship. If your company did not accept dogs, then we would have simply said thank you and continued our search for a campground in the Mt Washington valley area that accepts dogs. Additionally, we have two small girls and obey the state mandated leash laws everywhere we go, ensuring our experience is a pleasant one for us as well as those we share the surroundings with; also, we always bring a roll of disposal plastic bags to pick-up after our dog.
On Sunday 8/31/2008 my family and I were out for one of our many walks when we were approached by one of the staff members (who was friendly), and mentioned that we were not allowed to walk our dog past the parking area by the general store. This restriction was not mentioned to us when we made our reservation a week prior to our arrival. When I confronted the owners about their policy they mentioned that it was clearly marked on the maps and brochures’ handed out when we check-in as well as on their web site.
After further review, this is not the case. Both the brochures we received and the company’s web site do not mention restrictions where dogs were or were not allowed to be lead on leash. My family and I felt we were taken advantage by these further imposed restrictions after paying for the Labor Day weekend (8/30, 8/31, and 9/1), and felt when I confronted the owners for clarification, they were unfriendly, and unwilling to negotiate a resolution to this unfortunate situation. After discussing this encounter with my wife, we both felt that we had to leave (a day early) before the situation got out of hand. We regret that this situation happened and feel the company should elaborate their pet policy, either making the rules such that pets would be allowed to accompany their families or make the campground completely off limits to pets to elevate any confusion.
Owners and Staff: In my opinion, the staff was friendly but the campground owners were unwilling to reconcile situation.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: In my opinion, the campground landscape was well kept. The bathrooms needed additional work (they were unfinished).
Overall Site Quality: fair-average
Campsite hookups: electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, large and spacious, close to the road, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring,

Overall Campground Rating: excellent.
What stood out? The campground was spotless. The views were wonderful. Facitilies clean. The sites were secluded. It was very quiet even though the park was full.
Owners and Staff: Staff was very pleasant and helpful with suggesting activities. They even stopped in one night to see if we needed anything. They rake the sites and clean the fire rings before your visit.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: The campground is wooded and beautiful. It is somewhat rustic, but well maintained.
Overall Site Quality: excellent
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, Campsite Descriptions: wooded, private, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring,
Cell Phone Service: No problem with cell phone service, even though we were in the mountains.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: The bathrooms/shower were cleaned every morning.
Activities and Amenities
No activities or amenties, but there is plenty to do in Stowe/Smugglers Notch.

Overall Campground Rating: very good.
What stood out? Very spacious campsites! We were in Sites 128 and 130 in the very back of the campground. VERY level, nice little 'cul-de-sac' in the back. Seasonal people are extremely friendly. Major stand out: 5 mph speed limit w/in the CG...not 10, not 6...FIVE. Enforced. Trash pick-up!
Owners and Staff: Owners were extremely friendly. One staff member could have opted for a high-volume "Slow down, please!" instead of the nasty "SLOW DOWN!" that we got when we were accidently going over the 5mph speed limit the first day. But hey, we WERE told right at check in that it is STRICTLY enforced, so can't complain, really. It won't deter me from coming back. It's a great campground.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Nice playground/field area, HUGE sites with plenty of room to maneuver even the largest of rigs in here. Nice, level sites. 2 ponds: one smaller 'catch & release' pond and one larger for swimming & paddleboating. Groceries (Shaw's), hardware, & coffee (DD) just down the street. Activities the whole weekend we were there (Labor-Day) included free hot dog lunch on Sat, a Yardsale, loud, but EXCELLENT band on Sat night. This CG is less than 30 mins from the Hopkinton Fair, which runs on Labor-Day weekend. This is a 100% recycling campground, so you are given trash bags when you check in for regular trash and recycleables, and there is daily trash pick-up at your site. And they deliver your firewood for you! Nice! These folks know how to make sure that their campground runs smoothly and stays clean, and it shows.
Overall Site Quality: excellent
Good sites: I don't think I saw a bad one in there, but thought that the 'back' section was very nice where we were...sites would be any of the ones beyond the restrooms starting at perhaps site #65 and all along that road/cul-de-sac. Bad sites: None noted.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, As of Labor-Day 08, cable not yet wired to back section Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, close to the road, sandy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring
Cell Phone Service: Sprint/Nextel- No service.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, EXCEPTIONALLY FRIENDLY seasonals!
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers:
Activities and Amenities
pond, swimming, fishing, boat rentals, recreation hall, live entertainment, playground, camp store, pets allowed, security gate. Limited Camp store (but large grocery store nearby), no pool, but swimming pond. Rec-hall not visited, but description on website.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, Concord is the nearest big-city and is about 40 min drive from the CG, but there is a little downtown area less than a mile away, and other conveniences (commercial-type like grocery, pharmacy, McDonald's, hardware) about 2 miles down the road. Hopkinton State Fairgrounds 30 mins up I-89.
Last comments: Nice campground for relaxing with just enough going on to keep you entertained. The owners' commitment to keeping traffic and trash under control is certainly a unique quality and is a plus for this camper.

Overall Campground Rating: fair-average.
What stood out? I haven't been to Papoose Pond since I was a teenager, 20 + years ago. It is a nicely laid out campground with lots of activities. We found the staff to be helpful and friendly. There were a few issues however. 1. We camped with a group of friends, and 2 of us arrived at the same time. The site reserved for our friends who have a larger travel trailer was TINY. No way there camper would fit. Luckily, ours would, so we just switched sites. 2. NO Cell Service. (I know - to some this would be a plus, and maybe in a few years I will think that too.) To talk to our 17 year old who stayed home because he had to work we had to drive down the road 5 - 10 minutes to find service. Not a big deal, but people should be aware. 3. Our son drove up to spend the day with us on Sunday - went to the office to register - and was given a map to the WRONG site. He drove around the campground looking for us, and of course couldn't call because no cell service. On the plus side: Lots of activiies, the pond is absolutely gorgeous. They put our families together on a dead end street, so the kids could all play in the road safely.
Owners and Staff: All contacts we had with the staff were friendly and helpful, except for given wrong directions to our site. Office/Registration Building is not handicapped accessible.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Wooded, sandy bottom sites, very clean campground. Sorrounding area was very rural. 15 - 20 minutes to a town with stores. Campground is on two sides of a VERY busy road where speed is definately an issue.
Overall Site Quality: very good
Good sites: Just be aware that you need to let the staff know how big your camper is, some are smaller than others. All are very nicely laid out. Bad sites: Sites near the busy road
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: wooded, private, semi-private, somewhat small, close to the road, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring,
Cell Phone Service: No service. No Wifi on site, but available near office. No cable.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? no. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: I did not notice if showers were free or not. There were several bathhouses scattered throughout the campground.
Activities and Amenities
pool, pond, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, recreation hall, video games, live entertainment, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, No security gate. Owners and Staff: A couple of the staff were nice, but some were not nice to the children, the rules changed daily. Found out after we got there, not all activities were included in the price, which we were told that they were, not once but twice, we asked about this and were assured both times everything was included.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Not enough trees.
Overall Site Quality: fair-average

What stood out? The sights are terribly narrow, basically awning against next sites camper,or over top of slideouts, with sewer hook ups a few feet from your camper door.
Owners and Staff: The owner is the rudest, angriest person I have ever had the displeasure of paying money to camp with. One member of our group asked politely if he could have a discount due to the size of his sight,at which point the owner became irate ,using vulgar language and told him he should leave the campground without a refund. Then he confronted me since I made the reservations ,still hurling four letter words while my children were in the camper a few feet away. Finally after lying about the width of the sites he walked away allowing our friends to stay in disgust. He was also rude when asked for directions to a local attraction and threw change across a counter at my wife after purchasing a pack of gum.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Tent sites right next to the road,to many sites to close together,,expect a mud hole at the slightest rain, road noise from our sites, not a private setting at all.
Overall Site Quality: terrible
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, somewhat small, close to the road, picnic table, fire ring, highway noise, I gave all info on sizes, slideouts at time of reservation and was assured we would all fit, length of sites was fine but the sites we had were way to narrow ,parked tight against the hook ups and the awnings on the edge of your site is to small .

Overall Campground Rating: fair-average.
What stood out? What really stood out when making the reservations was that there is a section of sites that have "Deluxe Cabinettes" (aka Private Bathrooms w/ an outdoor covered kitchen area). Since we have small children this was especially appealing. Upon arriving the site was clean and fairly level. There were activities (mainly sports activities) scheduled throughout the day for varous age groups. We booked over the phone and received no explanation of their cancellation policy.
Owners and Staff: Our initial contact with them was fine. Our second contact left a lot to be desired. We were never told of the cancellation policy and never received anything in the mail so was not aware they had one. About 3 weeks prior to our arrival we needed to make an slight change to our reservation due to issues with school. We contacted them only to be told we were within the 30 day window and couldn't make any changes. I was more than unhappy because if I had known this type of cancellation policy existed I would never have booked. After complaining their resolution was to "give" us a "free" night tacked on to the end of our stay. This meant that we payed for 7 nights and got 1 for "free". We were only able to go for 6 nights so we lost out on two of the nights. When giving us the "free" night, the manager said it like he was doing us a favor which he wasn't. If I was asking to break rules I knew about I would understand but these were never told to us (and I did find out later that they were on their website but I didn't look at or book through their website).
The office staff at check in were a group of 3 young ladies who didn't seem to have much of a clue. My husband asked a few questions and they didn't know the answers for any of them and they were relating to their campground.
The counselors that ran the activities were also young and didn't really get into the activities and instead stood around and chatted with each other while the kids played.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Average campground that is spread out over a decent size area. There is a main office, store/arcade, cafe, rental office, beach, and craft lodge on one side of the campground and on the other side of the main road there is a pool with rec hall and mini golf.
The campground is located approximately 20 minutes to the grocery store and other retail shopping. There didn't seem to be very much to do in that area. Most of the campers seemed to stay at the campground and participate in the activities offered there.
Overall Site Quality: fair-average
Good sites: n/a Bad sites: the only ones I wouldn't recommend are the ones close to the busy main road.
Campsite hookups: electric, water, sewer, WiFi is available at the main office area Campsite Descriptions: wooded, semi-private, close to the road, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, highway noise
Cell Phone Service: Zero cell phone service for AT&T or Verizon.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: The bathrooms were kept clean but were in need of updating.
Activities and Amenities
pool, pond, river, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, playground, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station; Pool could use some supervision. Twice we had to leave because of children that were not supervised and were actually jumping into the pool onto other people. When we told the staff memeber manning the mini golf office right at the entrance to the pool she shrugged her shoulders and did nothing about it.
Last comments: I had high expectations for this campground and was very disappointed in the end. Yes, there were good parts to it but overall I didn't the campground itself.

What stood out? Beautiful and spacious sites, quiet and so clean. Excellent facilities for washing dishes, showers and restrooms. A 5th wheel pulled up next to our site and had plenty of room for their RV and truck plus tenting and play.
Owners and Staff: Happy and helpful. Very kind. But they ALWAYS are at this park.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: A gorgeous woodland forest! A perfect place to hike, bike or for horse riding. Easy climb to the summit even for small children. Lovely and colorful mushrooms this year! Every site has fire pits and there is a nice playground area across the street at the other part of the campground for day hikes, picnics etc.
Overall Site Quality: excellent
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water; I'm unsure about WiFi, but I could use my cell phone there no problem. Campsite Descriptions: wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. Group camping I believe is allowed. Best to check with the park itself.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, cluttered; One was super clean (hosts) the other hosts area seem to be more "Lived in"
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Bradbury Mountain has some... if not the cleanest restrooms I've seen yet! They smell GOOD! Even in the middle of summer heat.

Last comments: This whole region is great. Once you leave Portland it becomes a beautiful wooded, scenic haven! If you need some urban life for a bit, definitely check out downtown Portland. It's not far from the sites and it's an easy drive.

Overall Campground Rating: excellent.
What stood out? Wide site access for larger units, extremely clean restroom and showers, quiet, multiple recreational options (game room with ping pong and pool table, full bocci court, shuffleboard court, horseshoe pits, and good sized pool).
Owners and Staff: Everyone in camp office was friendly and helpful.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Tall pine and no undergrowth.
Overall Site Quality: very good
Good sites: All of the transient sites seemed to be level and equally good. Bad sites: I did not check the entire campground, so cannot report on bad sites.
Campsite hookups: electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: somewhat small, sandy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring, No privacy between sites. Sites have tiers of landscape timbers to divide sites which are on higher or lower levels, which prevents water run-off in case of rain and also to help identify site separation.
Cell Phone Service:
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? . Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Clean, well-lit.
Activities and Amenities
pool, swimming, recreation hall, video games, pool table, playground, camp store, laundry room, security gate. Store offered numerous rv supplies, but the food selection seemed limited. I wish the pool was heated or had at least a solar cover. ater was too cold for some of our family. Pool was extremely clean and well-managed.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails.
Last comments: For a calm, clean, worry-free get away weekend, this is the place. No pets allowed so this is a plus. Most campers seemed to be away at local attractions most of the day, so we had the bocci court, shuffleboard, ping pong, and pool mostly to ourselves.

Owners and Staff: Friendly and helpful when asked for some info. They were seen through out the day working at keeping the campground clean and doing a heck of a job at it too!
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Not much real landscaping per se. The campground sits in the woods under a bed of pine and other trees.
Overall Site Quality: excellent
Good sites: All looked good and large enough. Bad sites: n/a
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, wifi Campsite Descriptions: wooded, large and spacious, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. The sites were plenty big for nearly any type of vehicle(s).They are all level. Probably the only negative it that some people park nearly on the access roads to the sites making getting in and out of sites sometimes difficult.
Cell Phone Service: There was excellent cell phone service here for Verizon Wireless.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? . free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: The mens room had an air conditioner in it. When it got warm, the a/c went on and kept it at a comfy 72 degrees. Very nice! It looks like the restrooms/shower area was recently updated and was in great shape and large enough for anyone.
Activities and Amenities
pool, swimming, recreation hall, video games, playground, camp store, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, We were so busy that we didn't spend much time other than sleeping and dinner and breakfast with showers there. So I don't know if there were any planned activities or not.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, ocean or lake, nature trails. There is an excellent area for kids and adults about 5 miles away at Kimball Farm for food, ice cream (yum), mini golf and more. About 15 miles away is Minuteman Park, Walden Pond, hiking trails and more. A very historical area. Within an hour is Gloucester/Rockport, Boston, Kittery, Maine, and more.
Last comments: We kayaked Walden Pond (15 miles away) and the Concord River and went under the Old North Bridge. Some pretty hefty historical places. Those alone will keep you busy with sights. What stood out? N/A - I have no information on the actual campground, since they messed up our reservation. They accepted our 2 day reservation (sending us confirmation, charging us and telling us the balance on the 2 day reservation they ACCEPTED), then telling us we needed to stay 3 days (which we were unable to do). When we advised we could not stay the 3 days, they said we had to cancel - no big deal, right? Well, then they tell us that since they screwed up our reservation/confirmation, we would need pay the $14.00 credit card processing fee. Now, is this the kind of establishment you want to deal with?
Owners and Staff: The staff is obviously incompetent, as I spoke to them via phone, after I made my reservations online and at no point did they tell me that I needed to stay 3 days. The owner is the most rude and un-professional person I have ever had the DISPLEASURE of dealing with. I am amazed that he actually runs a business - but as with most things, time will take care of that, as this is not the first negative reveiw out there (unfortunately, I did not look for them prior to booking his campground) - you live and learn, but word of mouth will ensure that no one I know and no one they know will EVER visit this campground.

Owners and Staff: Owners were very nice, always available to help out when needed. Campstore, game room, weekend activities, coin showers are large but limited hot water, WESC available in many sites, laundry area at showers.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Quiet, wooded, large sites. Campstore with limited hours, but owners onsite for emergencies. Big, clean pool. Nice sized playgroung for the little ones. Small game room, older machines, but I don't camp for the game room. WI FI hotspot at game room, but also wire hookup if needed.

What stood out? Constant activities, clean facilities, beautiful new pool, tubing down adjacent river. Cons: sites still need improving, uneven, roots showing, dirt sites.
Owners and Staff: Staff was very helpful.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Camped in the safari field, beautiful area, full grass and sun. Many sites are in deep shade, with dirt bottoms. Some other areas need tending, ball field cut weeds.
Overall Site Quality: fair-average
Good sites: We loved the N79 area, no shade but great grass. Also the area connected to the S50 area, shaded, but nice layout. Many of the other areas are deep under trees and dirt floors. Some like that, we didn't. Bad sites: Down near the river can be tricky. We went when it was raining for weeks, area was muddy, and horrible with mosquitos. Previous tenters said that wasn't the norm, but rather a first for them.

What stood out? This campsite gives visitors all of the options, from a site for campers with hook-ups to walk-in sites with no hook-ups for tent campers. All of the sites are close to the river for easy fishing.
Owners and Staff: The only one whom you'll ever speak to there is Heidi, and she's great. She runs a small general store for necessities, and is always willing to give helpful suggestions of things to do and places to go. Each night's fee also gets you a bundle of seasoned firewood, with an additional bundle for each paid extra person.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: This campground is located in the Catskills, right by the Willowemoc River. There are sites for campers as well as ones for tents. We stayed in the "super secluded island sites", which were great. We could hardly make out any of our neighbors, and could not see a single car, electric light, or road. There's also a small farm on the ground with a few animals.
Overall Site Quality: excellent
Good sites: Island 1 Bad sites:
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, Dial-up connection for Internet offered at office Campsite Descriptions: wooded, private, large and spacious, fire ring, If you're staying on the island, both sites are good. #2 is more secluded, but #1 is slightly bigger. You need to hike/walk into the island sites across a small creek, so it takes a few trips from the parking area to the site to haul gear.
Cell Phone Service: There is no cell phone service in or around the campsite (Verizon). You may get an analog signal in some areas, but you can't depend on it.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: friendly campers,
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: From the island sites, the nearest outhouse is by the parking area, with just a pit toilet. A short walk away are showers, sinks, and toilets with running hot water.
Activities and Amenities
river, fishing, camp store, security gate. Great fishing on the creek. Farm animals are fun to feed. The campstore has sufficient necessities. The free firewood is a great service.
What is nearby? nature trails. Great hiking and fly fishing in the area.
Last comments: This is a great campsite for tent campers in that they are not surrounded by RVs and a lot of noise.

What stood out? The campground is in a great location. Sites are nice, large and mostly level, especially with the wooden canopies. The playground needs a paint job,yet the kids had a great time. The bathrooms need a paint job and better drainage. In the morning the bathrooms were "hosed down" which lead to wet toilet paper and VERY wet floors. At times the paper towels and TP ran out. Perhaps a midday cleaning would be helpful. Positive note...the bathrooms were self contained(toilet, sink and shower all in one and private. Ice cream sundae night was affordable and plentiful. Hayrides were frequent and fun. Overall, this was a decent campground. A bit of a disappointment when the activities director left the week we arrived.
Owners and Staff: New owners, trying to make things work. Suggestions: work on bathroom cleanliness, activities director would have been nice. Excellent location, grounds are neat and has great potential.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Some wooded sites with wooden canopies(which is great!) Some sites are in the "field" but seemed to be self contained, pull through sites. The river beaches were nice. Playground and fields were good for the kids.
Overall Site Quality: very good
Good sites: 16-18 Bad sites:

What stood out? Good:Nice playground, great area with access to the Cape Cod canal trail, clean bathrooms. Bad:Constant campground traffic, constant road noise from Rte.6, campers packed in like sardines, constant barking dogs, noisy neighbors, full dumpsters, ants everywhere.
Owners and Staff: Staff friendly and polite.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Fair amount of trees, no real landscaping to speak of.
Overall Site Quality: fair-average
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, Grey water drains. Campsite Descriptions: wooded, large and spacious, somewhat small, close to the road, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, highway noise, On paper, our site looked spacious, in person there were trees in the middle of the site so that it actually appeared to be 2 small sites. Due to the trees in the middle of the site,I had to park our trailer very close to the road so that the awning would clear the tree, but I had the other half of the site to park the truck.
Cell Phone Service: Verizon service had good reception.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: cluttered, snobby seasonal campers, too many seasonal sites. This park seemed to be almost all seasonal. Nobody said hello or waved or smiled. Noisy people.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes.
Activities and Amenities
recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, playground, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, snack bar, pets allowed, dumping station, security gate.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails. Beautiful area just minutes from Cape Cod, beaches, short drive to Plymouth.
Last comments: We were next to a site that had 3 tents, a screenhouse, 3 dogs and 6 people. The dogs would bark everytime someone went by the site, which was about every minute or so. There was trash, food scraps, dirty dishes all over their site & picnic table(we ended up with ants in our trailer). I kept chasing off a stray cat that was trying to give us a 'welcome' gift of a dead chipmunk. Dumpsters were full on Saturday night and were very ripe by Monday morning.

Overall Campground Rating: very good.
What stood out? Very friendly & accomodating staff. Lots of camp sites.
Owners and Staff: We were supposed to stay only one night, but when our plans fell thru 5 days earlier at a different campground (Little River Campground in Gloucester), we called and they graciously accomodated us and we were very happy abou that. The staff seemed very happy and were very social which made our visit very pleasant.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Clean grounds is what comes to mind when you drive in. It gives a positive impression.
Overall Site Quality: very good
Good sites: They all seem pretty good. Some are tucked behind the 2nd bath house and into the woods for more privacy. Bad sites: We didn't see any bad sites. But the access road to the wooded sites is very bumpy and should be either paved or re-graded.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, wifi free wifi thru out Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, close to the road, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, highway noise, group camping area. Our picnic table needed repairs or to be replaced as it was rotting out. We noticed this on many other picnic tables at other sites.
Cell Phone Service: Verizon wireless worked great there.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, Everyone was very friendly for seasonal.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Another bath house is badly needed when the campground is full. Also cleaning times shut down bath houses/rest rooms for 2 hours at a time. The locks on the bathroom doors need to be replaced as barely any work properly. The shower stalls are small and tough to manuever in unless you are petite.
Activities and Amenities
pool, swimming, recreation hall, video games, pool table, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, There are two laundry rooms that are supposed to be open 24 hours. But when the store closes (8-8) the laundry room beneath it closes too. The other laundry room had 4 washers and 2 dryers and a long, long waiting line for it's use. With the need for a 3rd bath house/rest room is also the need for a 3rd laundry room.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, nature trails. Plymouth is 15 miles away. A large grocery and shopping area is 10 minutes away. The Cape Cod Canal bike trail is 25 min away. Many beaches and places to explore are with in 10 minutes. Plus lots of seafood places to eat - YUM! And Providence is 45 min away and Newport a little further and much more.
Last comments: While the campground needs some updating to properly accomodate all the campers, it still is a very clean and hospitable place to stay. There are so many things to do within an hour, it makes a great place to start from. We now have more palces we want to explore the next time we go.

Overall Campground Rating: excellent.
What stood out? This is a very family-oriented campground. Everyone was friendly and there were plenty of things for the kids to do. You can burn your campfire all day and night as long as it is attended. Also, as long as you are quiet late at night, no one cares if you are up late and enjoying yourselves.
Owners and Staff: The owners of the campground live on the premises and are extremely nice and helpful.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Everything is very clean and well kept. We couldn't find any poison oak or poison ivy, even in the wooded areas. The roads and paths are smooth and graded. All the campsites are wooded with grassy bottoms. The payground has nice sand for the kids, just like the beach at the pond. The campground is off of a side road and in a very quiet area. You don't hear any traffic or any noise...just the quiet of nature.
Overall Site Quality: very good
Good sites: We stayed in tents in two sites (T14 and T15) that are the closest to the water (a pond). These sites are the most private with trees all around so that you can't see any neighbors. They also had nice grass and the fire pits were built with concrete and high enough our small child couldn't fall or climb in (definitely a plus). Bad sites: None!
Campsite hookups: electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, All sites have a nice picnic table in very good condition and a permanent fire ring. They all have water and electric but some have sewer and cable as well.
Cell Phone Service: My husband and I have AT&T Wireless cell service and we had three to four bars while at the campground; however my sister-in-law uses Sprint and she had no service at the campground.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, These people all have their own families with children and were very friendly and welcome to us.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: The bathrooms were the cleanest I have ever seen at a campground! There are only two bathrooms at the campground, but since the campground is pretty small you are close to one or another. There is only one bathroom with showers and they are free (2 showers for girls and 2 for boys) but since we took our showers in the morning, we didn't run into any line to use them.
Activities and Amenities
pool, pond, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, snack bar, pets allowed, dumping station, The playground was plenty big enough for the kids to enjoy with two slides, seesaws, swings for big and small children, and other playground equipment. The pond has paddleboats, rowboats, and canoes you can rent by the hour. You can fish (catch and release) in the pond free of charge. The campground has activities of all types on the weekends like arts and crafts, wagon rides, and karaoke to name a few. The pond has a nice sandy beach and the pond has a very clean bottom (none of that yucky pond slime). They also have a nice pool if you don't want to go swimming in the pond. There also was an outdoor shower next to the entrance to the pool so you can rinse off the chlorine or sand from the beach before going back to your campsite. There are also bocce and horseshoe pits if you want to play those games. There is a rec room with arcade games, pool tables, air hockey, foosball, and couches and a TV to use. They also have Wi-Fi available in the rec room for those that need to use their laptops during vacation. The general store has all the necessities and ice cream and candy for the kid at heart. You can buy your wood here too for $3.50 a bundle (very reasonable).
What is nearby? grocery stores, retail stores, If you need to go shopping, there are three grocery stores and a Wal-Mart within a 5-10 minute drive of the campground.
Last comments: We had 4 adults and 3 children (ages 15 months, 3 years, and 6 years). The kids loved it and so did we! We had so much fun; we are definitely going back next year!

Overall Campground Rating: very good.
What stood out? This was our first camping experience. Sites are very close to each other. But were able to get over that quickly. Beautiful campground, very clean!!! Stream located next to sites as well as large stocked fishing pond, guaranteed to catch a fish, or just to rent a canoe or paddle boat and enjoy the sun set. Amish baked goods delivered to sites by horse and buggy on Sat. mornings. Hay ride to Amish farm, beautiful pool, game room, and nice playground. Sunday worship service.
Owners and Staff: Owners and staff very friendly and offered a family atmosphere. Remembered your name and site.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Located in the beautiful Perry county with views of the mountain ranges.
Overall Site Quality: fair-average
Good sites: Sites N thru S are all shady. We stayed Sites Q- nice and shady, flat and grassy. Located next to playground and bath house. Bad sites: Sites - A thru M - aren't bad but are full sun. The plus is that they back up to beautiful running creek and are very large.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, Campsite Descriptions: semi-private, somewhat small, close to the road, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, We would definitely camp there again. We may try more primitive tent camping first.
Cell Phone Service: AT & T couldn't get coverage right on site, but could at road or playground.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, Beautifully landscaped site many took much pride in their vacation homes.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Very clean! Looked newly painted, and cleaned daily who knows when never saw anyone.
