Absolutely fantastic location across the road from intriguing historical ruins (some are in the campground itself), next to beautiful Lake Champlain and the Vermont-to-NY bridge, and about 10 miles north of Fort Ticonderoga. A must-camp for American history enthusiasts. This site is for people who like basic camping and don't need playgrounds or organized activities to entertain them.

What stood out? Very quiet despite sites being right on top of one another. All sites have direct water access for dropping in canoes, kayaks, etc. and for swimming right from your site. Water was warm and clean. The St. Regis canoe loop offers extended paddling opportunities. Decent general store within a mile of the entrance to the park. Downside is that very few sites had defined boundaries, much less any privacy from the adjacent sites.

What stood out? Very spacious sites - we had a "prime" site and it overlooked Lake Ontario - beautiful sunsets, lots of room. If you camp here you can park for free at Niagara Falls State Park in downtown Niagara Falls which is a $10 savings. Easy drive to the Falls.

What stood out? This campground was very clean and spacious. Almost every site had a fire ring and picnic table. I stayed at the Rolling Hills area and was able to view my site before I reserved it from their website. What stood out? Very noisy long after quiet hours. The property itself is very beautiful with two crystal clean lakes (only one of which you can swim in - with a "family style" beach and picnic area.) Hiking is really good in this park and there are plenty of bike trails.

What stood out? Peaceful, sandy beach. Grounds well monitored by rangers. Sites were a bit cramped, but the surroundings make up for it. There is no firewood for sale at the camp office -- supposedly someone drives through and sells it but we never saw him.
