Approx Dates of Stay: 4. Overall Campground Rating: horrible. What stood out? The showers in one section were push putton and went off in 5 seconds, you had to hold the button and wash with your other hand. The other shower was a coin operated machine that was much better. The spots are large, easy to maneuver into, and provide a good degree of privacy. As another writer said, Mr. Horton runs a tight ship which we especially like because things are orderly, quiet, and friendly. What stood out? We are planning our sixth season at Horton's and are looking forward to yet another relaxing summer vacation there. Overall Campground Rating: very good.

What stood out? Beautiful tall trees everywhere! On the down side-there must be an airport nearby, the small airplanes and helicopters are so loud, and they are flying very early in the morning, my kids somehow slept through it but we did not.

Owners and Staff: The staff was mostly teenagers, which was fine ,but they weren't so much interested in entertaining the kids as an adult...

Overall Campground Rating: good. What stood out? The sites were on top of each other with very little privacy. The wooded sites we saw seemed to be seasonal sites. It does however that they are planting trees in between sites. The Pond was very pretty with white sand and appeared clean. Owners and Staff: The staff was very pleasant. Camp landscaping and surroundings: The campground was...

Carl H gave us the review 09/06/01:

Overall rating for facility: Very Good. Overall rating for campsites: Good. Water and electric hookups. Good sites include the lower numbers - #60 or under. The views were pretty. Bike the canal and watch ships. Very nice beach. From what we saw of the staff, they were good. Sites/Landscaping: Some trees, mostly open and hot in the summer. Only one restroom facility, and for some sites it would be a hike. But they are clean and free. No stores, no pool...

What stood out? Clean, well-maintained campground with very clean bathrooms and showers. Very quiet at night--staff patrols at night to check for overly large fires and presumably unruly guests.

Owners and Staff: Pretty friendly.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Sandy/dirt campsites. Great location--about a mile from Brewster beaches, short drive to ocean beaches. About a mile from Cape Cod Rail Trail for biking, and three...

Overall Campground Rating: very good.

What stood out? Shawme-Crowell surprised me. We arrived without reservations (on a Wednesday) and were able to book a week with no problem. The sites were large, wooded and level for the most part. Although busy, the campground was mostly quiet. In Camping Area 2 where I stayed there is highway noise, but most of the time it didn't bother me. It may be less in Area 1 which seems to be a bit further from Route...

Overall Campground Rating: fair-average.

What stood out? Making a reservation is a breeze and the price is very affordable for families on a budget. The sites were a good size for a 6 person tent or camper and the trees allow some large, tall boats in. There's a picnic table and fireplace at every site. There are no hookups at all however, except for the yutes we stumbled upon (there were only 2 or...

Overall Campground Rating: fair-average.

What stood out? Many tenting sites are tiny. We were lucky to be camping next to friends who had a larger site and we were able to combine. Toilets in tenting area need updating and more regular cleaning. Showers in RV area were nice, though. Quiet hours are enforced. Close to shopping and lots of activities.

Approx Dates of Stay: 8/13/03-8/17/04. Overall Campground Rating: not good. What stood out? Good: location on the Cape, nice lodge with TV & games, tractor hay rides on Sat nites. Bad: campground isn't well maintained. Bathrooms were horrible. It was rainy and muddy and they only cleaned once per day and it was minimal cleaning. It may be a better experience in an RV - it's not nice in a tent. Tenting area wasn't within walking distance for lodge, store, or playground. Owners and Staff:...
