Hope Valley, RI -

Chris and Dave, Jen and Ed gave us this review on 06/01/06. Approx Dates of Stay: May 26-29, 2006. What did you camp in? Tent

Overall Campground Rating: fair-average.

What stood out? Nice grounds, facilities somewhat dated. Quiet hour wasn't enforced. The pancake breakfast in the mornings was tasty and a very good deal.

Owners and Staff: Friendly enough.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Pine trees and needles abound. Nice pool and rec hall, with usual campground assortment of semi-functional arcade games.

Overall Site Quality: fair-average

Good/Bad sites: F-3 was really large. F-2 was very small and almost un-usuable. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, Campsite Descriptions: wooded, somewhat small, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring, We had two sites for Memorial Day weekend. One, F-3, had above-average room. The other, F-2, was basically as wide as a driveway, with a picnic table on one side and a fire ring on the other. If we didn't have the second site to share, we would've been really cramped for the weekend.

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: friendly campers,

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Showers had random variations in water pressure and temperature, and could really use a scald guard.

Activities and Amenities

pool, pond, swimming, recreation hall, live entertainment, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, Small camp store. Major grocery and other stores just off I-95, about 15 minutes away.

What is nearby? restaurants, ocean or lake, Good location near Newport, the RI beaches, Battleship Cove and the CT casinos.

Last comments: If bathrooms and showers were overhauled, this could be a gem.
