That's Camping review on 06/18/05.Approx Dates of Stay: Drive-thru observation.
Overall Campground Rating: good.
What stood out? This was just a quick drive-thru observation, the owner/manager was not available to get a brochure or site map. The campground is very small, so we took a drive around ourselves and walked into a couple of the sites to check them out.
Owners and Staff: Did not see anyone, except a worker cutting the grass.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Pleasant small campground. It looks deceiving while driving in, but when you get a closer look, the river-side sites really stand out.
Overall Site Quality: very good
Good/Bad sites: Some sites that we noted as our favorites (Please note these are not the only good sites): #R5, R6, R8, R9, R10, R11, R12 - these are all riverfront sites. River sites were long & narrow, and some were a bit uneven, but they all were very private surrounded by wooded trees and bushes on each side. There were a few small tenting sites and full hookup sites as well, but the riverfront sites were the best in our opinion. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, other wi-fi Internet Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, large and spacious, somewhat small, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring. There are also little cottages for rent as well; They looked okay, but it is hard to really know without viewing inside.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers:Clean bathhouse and showers. I think there was only one bathhouse, but it should be accessible from all sites if I remember correctly.
Activities and Amenities
pool, river, swimming, recreation hall, playground, dumping station. The owner was not in the area, so we just took a quick drive around the property. The playground is new, but we didn't view the office/store area. They do offer Wi-Fi, but I do not know if there is an additional charge.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, nature trails. Located right on Rt 302 in Twin Mountain. Winter camping from Nov 15 to April 1 with Snowmobile trails right from site.
Last comments: This could be a hidden jewel. We would stay here if there were a river site available. Close to White Mountain attractions and clean surroundings.

I agree with your review of Tarry Ho. We stayed there a few years ago before the new owners took over. The river sites are great!! There wasn’t any sewer connections on the river sites….that was the only downfall.
Friends of ours rented a cottage and LOVED it!! Their camper had been hit in an accident…and they luckily had a cottage available.
Tarry Ho is small, but has alot to offer. We have great memories of camping there.Posted by Shirley Richardson on 06/23/05
