East Killingly, CT -

Patrick Rock gave us this review on 06/18/08. Dates of Stay: 5/23/08 - 5/26/08. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Motor Home - Size of Camping Unit: 38 ft.

Overall Campground Rating: excellent.

What stood out? New campsites, really fun activities for all ages, other friendly campers, cleanliness of the park.

Owners and Staff: unbelievable! we were greeted as soon as we walked in the door to register with free coffee and donuts. We were escorted to our campsite by a staff member due to the busy holiday. This made check in easy and quick. The staff did not change all weekend they always had smiles on their faces and were friendly and helpful.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Well kept. Grass resembled a golf course! Even on a completely full weekend the garbages were always emptied, grounds free of trash, and they had clean facilities. (one brand new bathroom)

Overall Site Quality: excellent

Good sites: we stayed in the new section on site 100. we also noticed that at least 50 sites in our surrounding area were new. Bad sites: we didnt see any. every site was taken for this weekend.

Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, wifi none Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, somewhat small, close to the road, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. It seems as they have a site for everyone. for example some were sunny, shaded, some more private than others, some pretty especially near the waterfront.

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, we have been to many seasonal campgrounds where sites seemed cluttered and tacky. this park clearly has standards because we barely noticed who was seasonal and who wasnt.

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: There were 3 main bathrooms located within the park. we noticed that they were being cleaned at least 3 times a day. the brand new bathroom located near the top of the park was beautiful and private.

Activities and Amenities

pool, pond, lake, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. their pool opened this weekend. although it was not heated the children loved it and it was crystal clean. campstore seemed to have everything you would need and the playground was safe and new.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, nature trails. they are located within an hours drive of both casinos, newport beach, sturbridge village, hartford, and providence.

Last comments: you would be foolish to not try this park. we rebooked on the way out! and so should you.
