Butch gave us this review on 06/01/06. Approx Dates of Stay: 5/26/06 - 5/29/06. What did you camp in? 5th Wheel Trailer
Overall Campground Rating: not good.
What stood out? We were lied to about the conditions that our site would be in before we arrived. We inquired two weeks before the arrival date about grass on the sites, paving the entrance to the park, basketball hoops being replaced, sand being replaced in the volleyball area. We were told that grass would not be there because of the recent rains (understandable), however, there would be paving completed, the basketball hoops would be replaced, the sand for the volleyball courts would be updated and the pool would be open. Upon arrival, none of the above were completed and as of departure, only the pool was opened by mid day on Saturday.
Owners and Staff: Maintenance personnel were very hostile and confrontational. Security was unfriendly. Staff at the counter attempted to be helpful but were cut off by maintenance personnel.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Dirt with woodchips. Overgrown grass on other sites. Very low hanging branches which would scrape the sides and top of your RV. Many roads appeared to need updating.
Overall Site Quality: not good
Good/Bad sites: Safari area needed more turning capability as there were large rocks limiting your ability to back into your site. Campsite hookups: electric, water, other Grey Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, somewhat small, fire ring, The safari area had very nice fire rings.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? don't remember.
Activities and Amenities
pool, lake, swimming, fishing, boat rentals, recreation hall, video games, playground, kids planned activities, camp store, pets allowed, dumping station, security gate. Only one set of dumpsters and a dumping station on far end of campground away from entrance. The playground was shut down whenever a softball game was to be played as the playground was in the outfield. (Caused quite a stir amongst the little ones) We lost water once on Friday, twice on Saturday and five times that we noticed on Sunday. Staff had the audacity to suggest that someone was sabotaging their water system. No remorse for the inconvenience, just "We are dealing with it."
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores,
Last comments: Unfortunately, we have a group of five campers that camp regularly together during each holiday weekend. We were promised certain items when we reserved the sites and as late as two weeks prior to our arrival. We were offered a rain check for our inconvenience, however, we asked for a free night instead of a rain check because of all the issues with the campground losing water and such. The staff promised to come to the safari area and discuss our options on Sunday, 5/28/06, and once again, they did not stand on their word as they never showed. We ENCOURAGE the printing of this review, as we spoke with three other camping parties, not affiliated with us, that also had disheartening experiences with this facility. It was a very disappointing weekend to say the least. Other RV'ers should be aware of this facility.

I am a new member of this campground. There is a history with this campground and I truly believe they are trying to update and improve. I also camped there on the weekend in question. They have recently made alot of capital improvements. There were number of problems but found the maintence staff was trying thier best. I would not judge this campground on one visit on a very busy holiday weekend
