Approx Dates of Stay: July 14,15,16th 2003. What stood out? Close to Acadia and other attractions. Owners and Staff: When I arrived it appeared as the people doing this do not really enjoy it. The couple times I went to the store/office they had no personality, and should hire people to run the campground for them. Camp landscaping and surroundings: Most sites are wooded, most are overgrown, the only full hook up sites are in the rear and tend to be taken by full timers, which are more in the field area, there are few available for short stays.
Overall Site Quality: fair-average. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable. Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, somewhat small, sandy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. Sites are not taken care of, and are overgrown. the campground has great potential under someone who cares. Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: The restrooms need updating. the showers were 25cents and you got about 6 minutes. They should adjust the timer so you get about 8 minutes. One of the showers did not drain well, and was always flooded while we were there. This was the bathroom closest to the office.
Activities and Amenities: pool, pets allowed, laundry room; I cannot say they had a rec room or a store, for what little they had available. What a shame, this place could have great potential, especially considering the location. What is nearby? restaurants, ocean or lake, nature trails. Acadia and attractions within 15 min drive. Nearest supermarket if off the Island. Super Wal-mart is 30 min away. Last comments: With some new staff, and some attention paid to cutting some brush and leveling the sites, this place can have potential. They have pet rabbits around the campground which are cute and the entertained the kids. You can pet and feed them. One example of the office needing new staff, they had a sign stating dumps are available, when I asked they said just pull your rig to the rear of the campground where the dump station is. I saw a portable dump unit which was probably available at one time, but they no longer provide the service. They should buy portable units that can you can borrow, and then return after you dump for a courtesy since they don't have many full hook-up sites.
