That's Camping gave us this review on 08/22/04.

Approx Dates of Stay: 08/06/04 to 08/10/04. Overall Campground Rating: very good. What stood out? This campground is remote, peaceful, and terrific! Owners and Staff: Very friendly and laid back. Camp landscaping and surroundings: Campground is located about 12 miles from Andover, ME. They are set at the southern point of Richardson Lake. Nothing fancy here. It is just peaceful and family-orientated.

Overall Site Quality: very good. Good/Bad site #'s: Some of our personal favorites were 29A, 29B, 31, 33, 43, but there were many many more terrific sites. We were lucky to rent site A4, which actually had a little path down the hill to the lake. 30 amp Electric is powered by a large generator near the office. The generator runs from 6am to 11pm. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water; Campsite Descriptions: wooded, large and spacious, somewhat small, close to the road, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring; The waterfront and beach sites are very nice. Some are more geared for smaller popups or tents. A lot of water sites are sized horizontally, so a lot of travel trailers/RVs were parallel parked with their front doors facing the water. The sites closer to the office area will probably hear a little generator noise. The 30 amp electric hookups were newly replaced and we expienced no electric problems. Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly; Just a few scattered seasonal sites.

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? sure, a little bit of updating could be done. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: We used our own trailer most times, so the public restrooms were not utilized too often.

Activities and Amenities: lake, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, docks or moorings, playground, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, laundry room, dumping station, good campstore and bakery. Nothing fancy; Just the beautiful decor of nature. And that is what we loved about it. One thing to note, the generator noise is very loud when walking by, but it dissipates the farther away you are. What is nearby? nature trails. Bring your own food, bring your own amusements. It is a rustic natural peaceful campground on a gorgeous lake. We biked, fished, boated and had a blast! We even drove up some of the nearby logging roads to see a moose! And that was the only time we left the campground. They have a pretty good store, and I wished I didn't bring so much food so we could try out the bakery items. Cinnamon rolls looked awesome! Last comments: We will love to go back next year for a few days! It is a long drive to get there, but magical!
