Larry gave us this review on 05/30/09. Dates of Stay: May 22-25, 2009. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Tent

Overall Campground Rating: excellent.

What stood out? Even though we were an hour late, the owner stayed up until our 11:30pm arrival to show us where we were going to be camping. I was VERY impressed!

Owners and Staff: The owners I mentioned above plus they are very friendly and went out of their way to make sure we (our group of 11 boy scouts and leaders) were good. He also set up a special bon fire and more for us. We needed a flag pole to teach our younger scouts flag handling and were handed the flag when we arrived.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Grass is cut perfectly, huge field to play in plus run with your dogs, well taken care of landscaping and roads. Trash and recycling well marked and easy to find. Our grass area where we tented was in great shape and not beaten up/worn down or muddy.

Overall Site Quality: excellent

Good sites: All Bad sites: None noticed

Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, wifi Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, somewhat small, close to the road, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. My only (micro) gripe is that we had to go onto a campsite to fill our water buckets as there needs to be a spigot on the field somewhere. But a minor gripe at that.

Cell Phone Service: Verizon Wireless service was excellent at the campground and in the surrounding towns where we visited during out stay.

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, I did not interact with many but those we did were very friendly.

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: We were there on a holiday weekend (full campground) and never had to wait for showers. The water was always at least warm or hot. The showers were huge especially when compared to most other campgrounds. Showers and bathrooms were very clean.

Activities and Amenities

pool, pond, swimming, fishing, recreation hall, video games, pool table, tv or movies, playground, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station; Great pool area (was cold tho!), lots of field space for frisbee golf, archery, football, etc.

What is nearby? ocean or lake, nature trails. Within an hour are many hiking trails, water falls, museums, Cayuga and Seneca Lakes (Finger Lakes). We hiked Watkins Glen Gorge, Taugannock Falls, Buttermilk Falls and visited the Corning Museum of Glass (excellent). If the boy scouts weren't with us, we could have visited MANY wineries and vineyards.

Last comments: This was my 2nd visit to Sned Acres. My wife and I spent a week there last August. I wish it were closer than the 300 miles from my house (4.5 hours) as I would definetly return MUCH more often. But we will return again!
