Approx Dates of Stay: Too long! Overall Campground Rating: horrible. What stood out? What stood out? How about raw sewage on the bathroom floors...one out of four showers even worked and the water was NOT hot. The sites were unkempt and looked worse than that along a logging trail. I would give up my beloved camping if this was the only place left to camp at. I would ceremonially burn my camper if I was ever forced to use this campground again. Owners and Staff: The owners and staff SEEMED nice enough, but they have no clue nor any business running a campground. I am surprised they haven't been shut down by the Department of Health or the EPA etc. They have no business being IN business! Camp landscaping and surroundings: Campground is the complete opposite of well-maintained. The only good thing about the park is it had an exit road...and I have never been so happy to LEAVE a campground as I was to leave this one! Surroundings? The open road, after leaving the park, and putting as many miles between them and home as quickly as possible.
Overall Site Quality: terrible. Good/Bad site #'s: Bad sites are as follows...ALL. Campsite hookups: electric, water, sewer. Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, semi-private, somewhat small, close to the road, grassy bottom, fire ring, highway noise. Worst sites I have ever seen. This place gives private campgrounds a very bad name. Seasonal Campers and Campsites: cluttered, friendly campers, too many seasonal sites. Nice people, but the seasonal sites had the 'trailer trash' look BIG TIME! Run down, unkempt, dumpy...looked like a poverty-stricken trailer park!
Clean restrooms and showers? no. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: They'd be shut down in an instant if the health department saw them. God knows why people like it there, they have obviously not seen a REAL campground that is well kept and clean! Activities and Amenities: Don't remember if they had a pool or not... Nice camp store, well stocked. Really ticked me off when they charged me the VISITOR FEE just to drive around and pick a site! What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, amusements. Nearby is Six Flags Darien Lake. I would either stay at the Six Flags campground or Darien Lake State Park which is actually closer than Sloppy Hollow anyhow, and they are both MUCH nicer campgrounds. Last comments: AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. AT ALL COSTS. AVOID.
