F & J Bernier gave us this review on 04/17/06. Approx Dates of Stay: June and August 2005. What did you camp in? Travel Trailer
Overall Campground Rating: very good.
What stood out? This campgrounds is exceptionally clean. Restrooms are spotless. Lot's of fun activities especially for kids but many encourage adult participation as well. Defintely a kid centered place. However, adults will find it peaceful as well.
Owners and Staff: Very friendly, hlepful, knowledgeable and chatty folks. They keep making improvements since we started coming here in '04.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Located just off Rt. 2. Some wooded sites. Some backed by trees and some open air.
Overall Site Quality: very good
Good/Bad sites: Anything in A row of I row. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, somewhat small, close to the road, grassy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, Hard for the average camper to tell which are the seasonals and which are not.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Only one set of restrooms. So immaculately clean! Lots of showers so there is very little if any wait to use them. Out door sink with hot water for washing dishes is a nice feature for tenters and pop ups.
Activities and Amenities
pool, swimming, boat rentals, recreation hall, video games, pool table, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, laundry room, dumping station, Thre is no on site fishing or boatrs but a mile or so away is a beautiful lake and the owner will rent and transport Kayaks/Canoes for you if you rent boats. What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails. New Balance sneaker factory out let store, Several co0nvinence stores nearby. The superette also has good meat and a deli. Drive in movies in Skowhegan. About 1 1/2 hours to Bar Harbor for a day trip. Campground provides maps for those who want to go looking for moose. Not far from Moxie falls. Beautiful easy to do hike.
Last comments: Sometimes the logging trucks going down the highway can be bothersome but not laways. Entrance to the campground needs work but owners have said they will be working on that. The owners friendlyiness and willingness to go out of the wya to help you is great.
