Mike gave us this review on 07/01/05. Approx Dates of Stay: 6/28-6/30 2005.

Overall Campground Rating: very good.

What stood out? Nice sites convenient to the amusement park.

Owners and Staff: Very friendly, helpful and very visible.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Wooded and open sites, all have electric and water, some have sewer. Right next to amusemant park.

Overall Site Quality: very good

Good/Bad sites: Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. Variety of site types available depending on your preference. Family area has posted quiet hours with frequent patrols. Wooded sites have dirt bottom, open sites are grassy.

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Restrooms are available to all areas, but may be a hike for some, especially in the full hook up areas. The campground also rents RVs and many of these are in the full hook up areas. While the time we were there was not busy, it would seem that the restrooms could become busy during peak times.

Activities and Amenities

pool, swimming, boat rentals, recreation hall, video games, live entertainment, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. There is a pool only open to people in the campground (there are water attractions, including a pool, in the theme park). Not sure if the little lakes have any fish, but they do have plenty of ducks. Very large campground, mostly within easy walking distance to the park. There is a parking lot near one entrance if you drive from your camapsite. The camp store has just about everything.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, amusements, There are plenty of places to get food in the park, with a sitdown restaurant at the park entrance from the campground. Outside the park there isn't much close by. Darien Lake State Park is about 5 miles away with hiking, fishing, etc.

Last comments: The campground was better than I expected. It is very similar to a state park campground and you can go and have a great campground experience while enjoying the theme park. I don't want this to be a Six Flags ad, but the convenience of camping there and coming and going to the park cannot be be beat. We stayed away from the expensive theme park food and ate our meals and snacks at camp. There are discount times available, and before and after peak season in July and August the rides have short lines or no lines - when there were lines we just took a break at camp. You can arrive before check in and if your site is not open they allow you to park in the parking lot and go to the theme park. On your last day you get a pass to go park in the main entrance lot and get into the park for the rest of the day, so if you stay two night you really get three days of theme park admission. Security was the most visible I have ever seen - there was a car patrolling at all times and there were other officers around as well.
