That's Camping gave us this review on 08/16/05. Approx Dates of Stay: Drive Thru Observation.
Overall Campground Rating: very good.
What stood out? We really liked this campground. Clean, quiet and well-maintained. When we saw this place, we wished we camped here instead of Little Ponderosa down the street. (not that we disliked the Little Ponderosa.) The only bad point is that there is no pool or swimming.
Owners and Staff: Very nice!
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Very pretty campground. Clean and well kept. Quiet and peaceful.
Overall Site Quality: very good
Good/Bad sites: The section in the front - #s 100 to 149 - is open, grassy and HOT on a sunny day, no shade here. The sites in the middle are pull-thru, but large. There were a few sites that had little wooden decks, which was neat. The sites on the outer edge (in this section) were nice.
The section of sites #s 19 thru 42 are very good - large. Also #s 49, 51, 53
The George's Hide-a-Way section looked to be for tents, with water only. Very nice sites, especially #11 & #57
Saved the best for last: the water sites are great. Our favorite section. Some noticed site #s are 58, 63*, 64*, 69, 72, 73, 74, 75, 75½*, 76, 77, 78, 79, 81, 82, 83, 84*, 85, 86, 87
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, highway noise, All sites have trash barrels. Some in the front will hear the highway (rt 27)
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly.
Activities and Amenities
fishing, boating, recreation hall, playground, camp store, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. Shuttle bus to Boothbay Harbor. Paved roads through out the park.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, nature trails. close to Boothbay Harbor
