Approx Dates of Stay: 8/1/03 to 8/7/03. Overall Campground Rating: very good. What stood out? The facilities (bathrooms/showers) were well kept up, and the location to restaurants, beaches, and other Cape Cod attractions. Nice camp store with reading/TV room. Owners and Staff: Very friendly and helpful. Camp landscaping and surroundings: Mostly wooded, some open areas. Most sites were smaller tenting sites.
Overall Site Quality: very good. Good/Bad site #'s: Along Bayside Drive towards the back of the campground was probably the best sites, besides the one we had. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer. Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, somewhat small, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring. Lot of crawly type bugs on the ground that latched on to stuff outside our camper (cooler bottom, etc.), probably due to the forest bottom (pine needle, oak leaves) and the moisture from the rain. Would have been nicer if the floor of the site had a gravel bottom, or at least had the leaves raked. But I suppose this is camping and not a 5 star hotel. Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers; Looked like there were a very few seasonals, but they were not really that noticeable. The campground is relatively small (100 sites)
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Very clean, and new facilities. Never had problem with water pressure or hot water. Had washer and dryers at both restroom/shower buildings. The number of showers were adequate, as never noticed more than one or two people waiting. Activities and Amenities: video games, tv or movies, playground, camp store, ice cream, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station. Playground was small and probably needed update, but because of the proximity to other activities on the cape, we did not need to spend too much time at the campground. Camp store was relatively new and well stocked with camping stuff and souveniers. There was a small grocery store directly across the street. The Brewster General Store was also less than a minute bike ride away where you could get a fresh cup of coffee and pastry in the morning. What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails. Central location to all Cape Cod attractions was great. This was the first time we have camped on the Cape, and would strongly recommend this campground and consider staying here again. Last comments: We have been used to staying at "Camping Resorts" in Maine and NH. This campground is not a "Resort" as it had no planned activities for kids (except the nightly movies)or a pool, but the fact that it is so close to the Cape Cod attractions, it did not really matter.
