Approx Dates of Stay: June 18 to 20, 2004. Overall Campground Rating: fair-average. What stood out? The people at this campground are extremely friendly. The landscaping is nice...little flower beds are planted throughout the campground. Owners and Staff: Very nice, but "serious" - which I like. I don't think they put up with any rowdiness or rule-breakers, and to me, that is a good thing. We like campgrounds that enforce quiet-time, and I assume they did, because we had two quiet nights sleep there, and it was motorcycle week in Laconia! Camp landscaping and surroundings: Although on the whole, this campground is not considered "beautiful", I know that the owners try to add beauty in certain areas. There were flower beds and plants/bushes all over, and the seasonal campers were tastefully decorated and neat.
Overall Site Quality: fair-average. Good/Bad site #'s: Sites were not huge, and our site #45 was deep, but narrow. A few roots, but not too bad. We had family staying on both sides of us, but I not sure how it would have been if strangers were in those sites. We shared the same water post with one side, thankfully our inlaws had a long enough hose.
Sites V14, V12 and V11 were good site choices. There were also two sites right by the little pond that looked nice, but it would be best if they were rented to two related families, as they were pretty close together.
There weren't too many transient, most are seasonal. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, somewhat small, sandy bottom, Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, Although most of the sites were seasonal, they were extremely friendly. We actually stopped to talk to one family who owned birds, and they were gracious enough to let us onto their porch to view the birds. Everyone was so nice. All the seasonal sites were very well-kept and landscaped.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? no. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Even though the campground is pretty small, there are some sites that are a bit far from the bathhouses.
Activities and Amenities: pool, pond, swimming, fishing, recreation hall, video games, playground, camp store, pets allowed, dumping station, Very small pool. Small store. The pond is supposed to be for swimming, but the beach area needed some work. The water was murky and needed to be cleaned, and maybe a fresh load of sand would spiff the beach area up some. What is nearby? restaurants, nature trails. You will find restaurants and stores within a short drive to Bennington or Antrim. There is a nature trail right by the campground. Last comments: We had a high-school graduation that weekend, and we needed a place closeby. We would be back if we had something going on in the area, but I don't know if we would stay there just on a whim. It is not a bad campground, and it really was a good stay, but we don't normally stay in the Monadnock region.
