Cheryl Ann gave us this review on 08/08/06. Dates of Stay: 08/04 - 08/06/2006. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Pop-up Trailer
Overall Campground Rating: excellent.
What stood out? Large, private campsites. Very friendly staff & campers.
Owners and Staff: Very friendly & accommodating.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Well maintained.
Overall Site Quality: excellent
Good sites: Any site in the L-area or P-area. Bad sites: Didn't notice any bad sites. All varied in size. Safari area is out in the open. No shade. Tents and pop-ups pretty crowded there.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer. Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, picnic table, fire ring, highway noise, group camping area. Highway traffic could be heard in the L & P area from Route 95. At night we were too tired to notice it. They don't clean up the sites when you leave.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Accessibility of restrooms from all areas: The L & P area have a restroom with no showers. To get to the shower area could be a hike but an enjoyable walk to them. Restrooms were cleaned daily. Classical music played in the main restroom/shower facility which was very relaxing. If the shower wasn't coin-metered, I probably would have taken a lot longer shower. $0.25 for four minutes. There always seemed to be toilet paper on the floor. Only saw restrooms cleaned once-a-day (late a.m.) but very thorough inc. washing floors and windows.
Activities and Amenities
pool, pond, swimming, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, Pool cleaned every morning. Very limited camp store. Just essentials. No planned activities, playground, or rec hall but there's so much in the area our 9 yr old didn't miss it. Probably a different story when the weather isn't so nice!
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, They provide a van (nominal fee) that brings you to Footbridge Beach on the hour.
Last comments: A weekend was just too short for us. We liked the idea that they had a security guard that walked around the CG at night. Quiet campground. We had the pool to ourselves as everyone was off to the beach (until 5 pm). Will definitely return next year.
