Lisa gave us this review on 08/21/06. Dates of Stay: 8/12/06-8/19/06. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Pop-up Trailer - Size of Camping Unit: 25 feet when open

Overall Campground Rating: excellent.

What stood out? The service you receive at Papoose Pond is amazing. The kids receive free carousel tickets at check in. Your trash is picked up every day. It is just a nice, friendly campground.

Owners and Staff: Rocky, the general manager, is awesome. He is very friendly and helpful. He loves to visit with the campers. His son, Jim, is the manager, and just as nice. The activity staff is great, especially, Joel, the activity director. He has a great personality and is perfect for that job.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: The landscaping is very nice. There are flowers around the cafe area, as well as the pool area. The landscaping is maintained very well.

Overall Site Quality: excellent

Good sites: We stayed at the Kitchen and Bath sites which are very nice, especially #9 and #10. The water and electric sites are nice too. They are huge. We have rebooked next year at site #24, which is very large and flat. There is a site for everyone, from basic tent sites to cabins. Bad sites: There really are no bad sites. Some sites near the cafe are small and lack privacy, but if you want to be near the action, they are fine.

Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, wifi Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, semi-private, large and spacious, somewhat small, close to the road, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, highway noise

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, I am not sure if Papoose Pond has any seaonal campers.

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Although the rest rooms are accessible to all sites, you may have to walk a bit to get to them. There is only one main bath house on the pool side of the campground, since most of the sites on that part of the campground have their own bathrooms. There is a bathroom at the rec hall, but only the main bath house has showers.

The rec hall snack bar has been expanded to include daily lunch, pizza and ice cream. The facilities at Papoose Pond are wonderful. The camp store is well stocked, and may be expanding next year. The cafe has great food, and during the week, Papoose Pond has a variety of special meals, such as the Country Fair night, Beach BBQ and Breakfast with Willy the Moose. WiFi has been added to the cafe area.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails. Papoose Pond gives you a detailed guide to all area attractions and encourages you to visit them. They even have a scavenger hunt with clues found only at these attractions. Papoose Pond is centrally located, so you can visit Oxford, Norway, Fryeburg, etc. The White Mountains are only about 45 minutes away.

Last comments: My family loves Papoose Pond. I camped there as a child, and am thrilled to be able to share it with my family now. Next year will be our fourth straight year. If you haven't visited before, or haven't visited in a while, make sure to add Papoose Pond to your camping plans next year.

  1. We’ve been 2x for July 4th week (04/06)and love this campground!!! Though I did notice that the housecleaning of the restrooms was below par on my last visit :(
I have recommended this campground many times.
