Ms Cheyenne gave us this review on 07/08/06. Dates of Stay: July 1-July 3 2006. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Pop-up Trailer - Size of Camping Unit: 24 feet
What stood out? Spacious sites, beautiful setting right on the ocean. Also it was a late checkout time of 2:00 pm
Owners and Staff: We thought he was great, he was very helpful and he would ride through often to check to make sure everything was okay and if we needed anything.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Absolutely beautiful. If you enjoy nature it is one of the most prettiest spots with the ocean front and the large sites, you can't see your neighbor. I read that most sites are 1/4 of an acre, and he keeps it immaculate.
Good sites: Definently anything on the water. Sites 10,12,14,16**,18,20.These are all the electric and water sites. There are other sites on the water that do not have electric or water but are great also. Bad sites: Most sites were big and spacious, but the sites further away from the ocean and the restrooms I would recommend.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, Campsite Descriptions: wooded, private, large and spacious, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, Away from the ocean it was very buggy. They had had alot of rain the week before so the bugs were bothersome. Next time I would bring my sreen house because there was plenty of room to set it up. Also they had a pathway to walk out to the ocean if you didn't have a site with waterfront. He also allowed dogs on leashes to go out on the shoreline. It was covered with smooth rocks so it was a little tricky to walk on it.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: There were no seasonals
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? no. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: There are some sites that would be a little bit of a hike to the bathroom. On the wilderness sites on the cliffs they had privies.
ocean, fishing, boating, pets allowed, dumping station, security gate. There was no store but there is a well stocked grocery store 1/4 mile down the road. This is a campground to go to if you love nature and want to get away from the hustle and bustle. If you feel the need to shop, you can take a ferry over to Bar Harbor. We also noticed a number of people putting in their kayaks off the shore, and there was a place down the street that you could rent them.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails. There is a public golf course, town pond with swimming area, down-east fishing villages, restaurants and farms that sell fresh produce
Last comments: We love this campground, and we realize that it might not be for everyone. If you like to stay up late and talk around the campfire this may not be for you. But on the other hand if you would love to sit and look at the ocean and enjoy relaxing, this place is for you.
