Approx Dates of Stay: Mid April, Independance Weekend. Overall Campground Rating: excellent. What stood out? We have been to Nickerson's at least twice a year for the past couple of years because they are excellent priced, very accomodating people with a nice, relatively small campground (around a hundred or so sites). They are along the Natchaug River which makes for excellent trout fishing in the Spring and lots of tubing fun in late Spring to early Summer. We have found the guests to be very friendly and respectful of the camp rules. This is a place that you can actually trust yourself to let your kids play without constant supervision. A high point is that they actually have religious services on Sunday mornings. There is no doubt that we will continue to use this campground in many future years. The only lacking area would be a swimming pool, if the river doesn't do it for you. Owners and Staff: Very professional and accomodating. They work hard to keep their customers happy. Camp landscaping and surroundings: There are a couple of playgrounds, lots of walking areas and dogs allowed. Mostly level terrain. Field sites are more open, river sites have privacy with hedgerows between.
Overall Site Quality: excellent. Good/Bad site #'s: Best sites for travel trailer with kids are along the river (in my opinion) Sites R1 thru 10 Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable. Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, semi-private, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. Seasonal Campers and Campsites: friendly campers.
Showers: Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Restrooms and showers depend on level of occupancy for level of cleanliness.
Activities and Amenities: river, recreation hall, video games, live entertainment, bingo, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, pets allowed, dumping station. What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, nature trails. Stores and restaurants are within 10-15 minutes. Last comments: As Arnold Schwarzenegger says "I'll be Back!!!"
