Margarita gave us this review on 05/21/08. Dates of Stay: June 2007. Will You Return? No. What did you camp in? Motor Home - Size of Camping Unit: 25 ft
Overall Campground Rating: fair-average.
What stood out? We stayed here for three nights three years ago, and we had the site we requested, which was on the small man-made pond. It was nearest to a stand of trees, private and quiet.
When we decided to go back last year, we wanted the same site so I called about two MONTHS in advance and was VERY SPECIFIC about how much we loved that site and wanted it back. We could have gone camping anytime, so we were very flexible with our dates, and the friendly woman on the phone set up everything as we'd requested. When we arrived, however, we were directed to the site NEXT to the one we'd chosen--one that had, really, no privacy since now we were surrounded by campers quite close together, and we couldn't back in our RV so we would have the camper to our left and the stand of trees to our right. I went to the office and explained that we were given the wrong site, and I was told that the girl who booked our reservation (and our stay was quite expensive) wasn't there anymore so we could take what we got or leave it. If we wanted to leave (it was about 4 PM by now), we could, they said. Management was very snippy, even belligerant. I was alone on that trip with my small daughter, didn't know where else to go, was pretty much a camping novice, and I felt a bit bullied. If I wasn't so tired from the drive, and if I knew of another campground, I'd have left. When the people arrived at the site WE had reserved months earlier in a tent camper, I asked them when they'd made the reservation. They said they had made their plans earlier in that SAME WEEK. I thought the way Nelson's staff handled their error was unconscionable.
The, when the man came to help us connect the TV cable THE DAY AFTER I'd asked for help, I told him what had happened, and he said, "You know, I should just walk away. You WANT this or NOT?" It really spoiled my entire trip.
