Overall Campground Rating: fair-average.

What stood out? We had an oceanview site, which was absolutely gorgeous..but we paid almost $80 a night for it. There were 2 adults, 3 children. The oceanview sites included water, electric and cable..no sewer--but not surprising due to the proximity of the ocean. Unfortunately, there were many green heads and bugs at the time. The schedule of activities were never distributed upon arrival, they were posted in the bathrooms or at the camp store. The campground was not very crowded when we were there, which was nice.

Owners and Staff: The campground owners/staff were extremeley helpful and friendly. I did find, though, when I asked directions to an area attraction, the person I spoke with was unfamiliar with where I was trying to go--but all in all, they were very nice.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: The campground consists of grassy sites, some shaded with trees. At the end of the campground are the oceanview sites. You can take a path down to the beach. Itis right off of route 3, which is very busy, but you don't hear the traffic. About 10 miles from Acadia National Park. There is an airport close by, but we maybe heard 5 planes the whole week we were there.

Overall Site Quality: very good

Good/Bad sites: We were in 310, with friends in 309-which was almost like a shared site. The oceanview sites are very nice. The rest seem to be grassy and very neat. There are a variey of sites--some are treeless on grass, others by the ocean, some in more private wooded areas. Some of the ocean sites are also surrounded by bushes and vegetation, which provide a private site. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, private, semi-private, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area.

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes.

Activities and Amenities

pool, ocean, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, playground, camp store, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, The pool was very nice with 2 water slides. The laundry room had about 8 washers, and 8 dryers---2 dryers were not working when we were there, which provided some problems. The playground, arcade, tent and bathrooms, although all neat, are in need of updating desperately. I know we paid for our oceanview, but I expected a little more for our money.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails. 10 miles from Acadia National Park and 15-20 minutes from Bar Harbor.

Last comments: Although in need of updating, we enjoyed our stay here very much and would definately go back there again. It was private, quiet and close to where we wanted to go. Rumor has it renovations are due in the fall, we just hope it doesn't get much more expensive then it already is.

  1. The price did go up quite a bit I see from their website and this review. We visited a “best ocean site” in 2002 and our site cost was about $55 with 2 adults and 3 kids. This is where the Good Sams discount (if they still accept it) would come in handy.  It was a long walk to the bathroom from these sites.

  2. Hi

Just to let everyone know, the campground lost their Good Sams rating.  There is a big sign when you go to check in.
