That's Camping review on 09/18/05.

Approx Dates of Stay: August, 2005

Overall Campground Rating: very good.

What stood out? We were pleasantly surprised when we first drove into the campground. Gorgeous mountain lake views. Their brochure and web site doesn't do them justice. Extremely clean, well maintained. Unique pool area. The only problem is the noise level from the nearby highway. Owners and Staff: A tiny bit "standoffish" at first, but they truly warmed up and were very friendly. Very strict with their rules, so don't bother to stay here if you are there for a big party. They will not have it! Very family oriented. Camp landscaping and surroundings: Absolutely beautiful mountain and lake views. The pool area was very different and unique with giant chess and checker boards to play with.

Overall Site Quality: very good.

Good/Bad site #'s: A few of the sites we noticed in particular (for our own RV needs) are #22, 71, 72*, 74*, 75, 76*, 77*, 79, 82(grassy), 83(grassy), 1*, 2*, 4* - this list is not complete, as there were other sites for smaller units and tents that were very nice as well. Some sites have the electric/water hookup on the wrong side of the site. I specifically asked when I made my reservation because I thought the site they were recommending had the utilities misplaced. She assured me that it was fine, but when we got there, yep, I was right. The electric/water was on the wrong side. We had to run a long extension and water hose from our backed in trailer over to the utility box on the opposite side. Obviously the person on the other end must have misunderstood my question, so make sure you are clear on this if it is important to you. A lot of campers don't have long cords and hoses, and for us it really wasn't a huge problem, but an annoyance. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer. Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, somewhat small, close to the road, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, there are a variety of site sizes, some are larger (better) than others. Campground is tiered, so there are many campsites that offer fantastic views of the pond. What a fantastic lake breeze as well! There are also cabin, teepee and yurt rentals. The pull through full hook up sites are near the office and are good sized with a nice view.

While the views are terrific, the highway noise is very distracting. I am normally not bothered by highway noise, but because there was road construction nearby, it was very loud. I am not blaming the campground or owners, since it isn't their fault. I think the noise levels will be lower when the construction is over.

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly;

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? no. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: There was only one bathhouse by the office, and it was a long walk from some sites.

Activities and Amenities

pool, pond, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, recreation hall, video games, playground, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, Immaculate pool area, and the beach looked nice as well. Ice cream scoops, sundaes and frappes are available in office. Fresh muffins and newspapers are also available and can be delivered. Small camp store, but it has everything you need! Full RV section. They have an extra charge for pets. What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, amusements, nature trails. Very close to Santa's Village and Six Gun City. Close to White Mountains and Vermont. Lots to do in the area. Last comments:Well maintained campground. We had an enjoyable stay. I don't know if we will be back, but we recommend it to families that desire a quiet atmosphere.
