Lancaster, NH -
Rob L. gave us this review on 10/12/09. Dates of Stay: 10/09. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Travel Trailer - Size of Camping Unit: 32'
What stood out? Nice people, clean facilities and a great recreation schedule for the kids. They had several activities scheduled each day Sat and Sun with the trick or treat being the kids favorite. After a long cold day Sunday visiting Santa's Village, we skipped the bonfire on the beach. Sunday night was COLD...upper 20's. Our water line froze solid! A quick soak in the bath got us flowing again.
Owners and Staff: Very friendly. Bob giuded us to our site on Fri night and they allowed us to move to a site that better suited us on Sat morning.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Well landscaped and decorated for the season. Everything was clean and tidy.
Good sites: We moved to site 95 after staying on a very cramped site 6 Fri night. The pull through sites up front have a nice lake view but are narrow and rather short. Our combo was way too long for the site we were assigned (6). I had a really hard time unhooking as the truck was downhill of the trailer. Pulling out of this site, my driver rear stabilizing jack tore up the ground pretty bad, luckily nothing broke. The back loop where we moved was nice and flat and had grassy areas between sites, no trees though. Bad sites: I would caution anyone with a larger trailer to leave the pull through sites be. They are best suited for trailers under 26'. They all tend to slope downhill. Knowing what I do now, It's probably easier to back out of these sites as the road pulling out is quite narrow and has quite a slope towards the lake.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, semi-private, somewhat small, close to the road, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, highway noise, The sites up front will be noisier too, as Rt. 3 is right there.
Cell Phone Service: Good service with verizon at the campground and points south...North, forget about it!
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes.
pool, pond, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, recreation hall, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, AM coffee, pets allowed, dumping station, The lake is small...more of a pond. The store is pretty well stocked and has a nice commercial Keurig coffee station.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, amusements, nature trails. Downtown LAncaster has a Shaw's market, Rite-Aid, Dunkins and several other small stores and restaurants. Santa's Village is about a 10-15 min ride.
Last comments: A great little campground that can serve as homebase to explore the great north woods of NH.
