Larry gave us this review on 08/25/08. Dates of Stay: Aug 21-24, 2008. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Pop-up Trailer - Size of Camping Unit: 16 feet extended
What stood out? Seeing the owners working very hard to keep the grounds clean!
Owners and Staff: Friendly and helpful when asked for some info. They were seen through out the day working at keeping the campground clean and doing a heck of a job at it too!
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Not much real landscaping per se. The campground sits in the woods under a bed of pine and other trees.
Good sites: All looked good and large enough. Bad sites: n/a
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, wifi Campsite Descriptions: wooded, large and spacious, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. The sites were plenty big for nearly any type of vehicle(s).They are all level. Probably the only negative it that some people park nearly on the access roads to the sites making getting in and out of sites sometimes difficult.
Cell Phone Service: There was excellent cell phone service here for Verizon Wireless.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? . free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: The mens room had an air conditioner in it. When it got warm, the a/c went on and kept it at a comfy 72 degrees. Very nice! It looks like the restrooms/shower area was recently updated and was in great shape and large enough for anyone.
pool, swimming, recreation hall, video games, playground, camp store, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, We were so busy that we didn't spend much time other than sleeping and dinner and breakfast with showers there. So I don't know if there were any planned activities or not.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, ocean or lake, nature trails. There is an excellent area for kids and adults about 5 miles away at Kimball Farm for food, ice cream (yum), mini golf and more. About 15 miles away is Minuteman Park, Walden Pond, hiking trails and more. A very historical area. Within an hour is Gloucester/Rockport, Boston, Kittery, Maine, and more.
Last comments: We kayaked Walden Pond (15 miles away) and the Concord River and went under the Old North Bridge. Some pretty hefty historical places. Those alone will keep you busy with sights. The Minuteman campground is definetly a inviting place to stay. Just bring your bug repellnt as the mosqitoes were merceless.
