Lost River Valley Family Campground (Campground Review)

Posted on June 21, 2009 - New Hampshire, White Mountains, Western White Mountains

North Woodstock, NH -

Sarah gave us this review on 06/21/09. Dates of Stay: June 2009. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Tent - Size of Camping Unit: n/a

Overall Campground Rating: excellent.

What stood out? This is my family's favorite new campground. Besides being a beautiful setting, the campground was the cleanest I've ever stayed at with the nicest bathrooms.

Owners and Staff: Very friendly and helpful.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Mountain views, river, brook, clean level campsites right on the water

Overall Site Quality: excellent

Good sites: Brook side where the sound of the highway traffic is drowned out by the sound of the water Bad sites:

Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water Campsite Descriptions: wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring; I thought the cooking grates that were attached to each fire ring was a nice touch though we never used ours.

Cell Phone Service: Verizon - got service pretty much everywhere in the campground.

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Absolutely the cleanest and nicest campground facilities I've ever seen. Smelled bleachy clean when we arrived and were kept clean the whole weekend. Soap and papertowels provided. Plenty of stalls and showers with separate changing areas for privacy. A quarter got 6 minutes of hot water with great pressure. Excellent, excellent, excellent.

Activities and Amenities

pond, river, swimming, fishing, boat rentals, recreation hall, video games, playground, camp store, pets allowed, laundry room, security gate. Great modern camp store, paddle boat rentals and playground a hit with the kids.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, Downtown Woodstock is a quick drive away with lots of nice shops and restaurants. Clarks Trading Post a nice way to spend a few hours with the family.

  1. Glad you loved it there.  When we were traveling, this was one of our favorite off season campgrounds.  We loved everything about this place, only camped off season because there is no pool.  Loved to visit Lost River as well as Clark’s.
