S. Kelly gave us this review on 07/20/07. Dates of Stay: july 06. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Tent
Overall Campground Rating: excellent.
What stood out? What stood out for us was the family atmosphere. Families with children all over having the time of their lives! Swimming, movies, bingo, dances, fire truck rides, parades,sports- you name it,they have it going on! Horseshoe and pool tournaments for adults were fun also.
Owners and Staff: Didn't have much interaction with staff. Only at check in/out. They were busy checking people in and answering phones. But managed to have a smile for us when we arrived and took care of business very professionally.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Our tent sites were clean, grounds were clean, no trash left around, flowers planted at common areas.
Overall Site Quality: excellent
Good sites: we enjoyed S26,27,28 sites. Great for larger family/friends camping together. A bit more private and a bit larger area at the end of the road.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, tent sites were very clean. port-a-john located in tent area closer than restrooms/showers if needed. Kept very clean as well. (very surprised) Our trash picked up by truck at sites every morning.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, Seasonal sites were kept very nice and the seasonal campers we met there were all friendly. Sites were patrolled at night so the noise level was kept down for all. Seasonal sites were close together.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Restrooms were kept clean. A bit of a walk from the tent area where we were.(but not too far away) kids rode bikes and we drove rather than walk. Parking was avail.and showers always had hot water! Laundry area located next to bathroom was clean as well.
Activities and Amenities
pool, pond, swimming, fishing, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, camp store, ice cream, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, security gate. Tent camped here for last three years. Enjoyed our stay there. No problems. 2 pools & spa were clean. Pools were guarded by staff. pool was only steps away from rec hall and camp store & deli. (very clean also!) Bands in lounge on Sat. nights were fun, dances for teens, bingo & movie night was fun for kids. Overall a great place. The rec hall could use a bit more updating or sprucing up and a few more video games for all the kids that were there, but they took turns and enjoyed it anyway. We just bought our first RV so we can not wait to return. Especially the kids, they love it there!
What is nearby? grocery stores, Large chain grocery store near, also a nice country farm stand and camp firewood was near for $5 bundle along the same road.
Last comments: Give Lone Oak a try, we had a nice time there.
