That's Camping gave us this review on 08/14/05. Approx Dates of Stay: August 2005 for 3 nights.

Overall Campground Rating: very good.

What stood out? Clean, peaceful campground. No swimming (they do have a beach area, but it really isn't so great for swimming)

Owners and Staff: Extremely friendly and helpful. The staff always had a smile and good attitude.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Clean, pretty campground. This isn't a "resort" campground, but a quiet family campground. They care about their appearance.

Overall Site Quality: very good

Good/Bad sites: Basically the water sites are really the best, although the sites across from the water sites are still nice. A list of our favorites (by no means a complete list) includes 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20*, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 29, 31, 34 (tent), 35 (tent), 38 (near bathhouse), 40a, 42, 43, 44. We stayed on site #9 and it was a little bit narrow and long but surrounded by trees which lent a buffer to the neighboring sites. We did like the full hookup sites which technically aren't shore sites, but were still located on the water. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring, highway noise, yes, there was a bit of highway noise from Rt 27, but we didn't notice it.

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, The seasonal campers were very nice people.

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Very clean bath rooms and showers. Showers were 25 cents for 5 minutes. Since we didn't have a full hookup site, to conserve gray water space, Mike took his showers at the bathhouse.

Activities and Amenities

ocean, boating, boat rentals, docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, pool table, playground, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. No pool, and the beach really wasn't a "swimming beach" - the campstore was clean and stocked with essentials. Small laundry room area, 3 washers, 4 dryers. 1.50 each. Ice cream sundaes on Saturday nights! They also offer a shuttle bus to Boothbay Harbor for $1 per person each way. Also modem access available in the rec hall. Mini Golf is located at the front of the campground.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, nature trails. Close to both Boothbay Harbor and Wiscasset. Grocery stores are closeby. We always take a day to drive up the coast to visit Rockland, Rockport, Camden, and Belfast.
