Kathy gave us this review on 06/14/06. Approx Dates of Stay: June 3-5. What did you camp in? 5th Wheel Trailer
What stood out? This campground has beach sites which are beautiful. We stayed with our kayaks and were able to come out of the water right up to our site.
Owners and Staff: The owner Maurice Barnes is a wonderful, caring man. He wants his guests to be happy and comfortable. He does not allow any foolishness after quiet hours. We have been to a few campgrounds where quiet hours is a joke! There is a train that goes thru around 11 PM which is a little un-nerving the first night. But after a night or two You find yourself looking forward to it coming. Maurice can tell you railroad stories for hours. Island Pond used to be the rail capital of Vermont. Lots of history in this area.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Beautiful clean lake great for Boating kayaking of swimming. You can sit at your campsite and watch the loons come right to shore. I have some really good pictures of the shore line sites if any one is interested I can email them.
Good/Bad sites: 87-90 Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, semi-private, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, railroad noise.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes.
lake, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, live entertainment, playground, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, ocean or lake, nature trails. Local Sheriff in town is a little anal( to say the least). Make sure you mind the speed limit and stop at all stop signs. Also take your camper pass out of your window when going into town. He sees those passes as an "obstuction of view ticket". But again.. Maurice will tell you that when you check in. Jennifer's Restaurant in town does an awesome Fish Fry on Friday nights.
