KOA mystic (Campground Review)

Posted on September 10, 2008 - Connecticut

North Stonington, CT -

Karin gave us this review on 09/10/08. Dates of Stay: 8/08. Will You Return? Undecided. What did you camp in? Pop-up Trailer

Overall Campground Rating: fair-average.

What stood out? The pool was very nice. Bathrooms clean. The wooded sites were nice, the rest and main part of campground is open field with large trailers and campers in rows. There was no kamper kitchen by the bathrooms, which I have found at most KOA's..

Owners and Staff: Pleasant office staff. The two sunshiners that ran the activities were great!I dont often participate in campground activities, but they made it so much fun.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Pretty, clean, rolling hills. Can hear the highway at night.

Overall Site Quality: fair-average

Campsite hookups: electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, fire ring, highway noise,

Cell Phone Service: verizon service fine.

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Could use new shower curtais, they are a bit stained and shower head are not adjustable and aimed very high on the wall.

Activities and Amenities

pool, pond, video games, tv or movies, playground, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. campstore very limited. Store will deliver wood to your site - that was nice.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, mystic is very nice.

Last comments: Overall a nice place given its proximity to NYC and LI. Its not the adirondacks, but for a weekend, it was pretty nice.

  1. We stayed here in 2007, accurate review and a nice enough park, but the pull thru sites were short and the roads between them were narrow.

We barely parked and the manager was telling us to unhitch quickly and move the truck so another camper could pull in the site in front of us.
