What stood out? We have heard so many good things about Jacobs Brook campground so I really wanted to pay them a visit. We were camping closeby this summer, so we took a daytrip drive there.
Owners and Staff: Pen has always been so supportive of our web site, and it was wonderful to meet her. She wasn't actually on site when we arrived, but her husband welcomed us and allowed us to wait for her. We hung out, had lunch, and walked around the campground while waiting for her to return.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Charming, peaceful, gorgeous. Pen calls the campground her "work in progress", but disagreed. I noticed meticulously landscaped gardens and a comfortable atmosphere. I loved her "reading garden" with a little waterwall pond with cute frogs and fish. We also spent some time on the wooden swing by the playground area. It was so relaxing to sit and swing.
Good sites: We liked site #s 51, 52 and #54 (last site on right) - grassy and fairly private.
We also liked site #s 48 (bit of grass) and #46 (large with dirt bottom, appeared to be more shady) - you can hear the running brook from these sites.
The group area is really nice, with a bunch of electric/water hookups. Great for a large family, church group or group of friends.
The tenting site #45 was private and near the hiking path to brook.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, wifi Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area.
Cell Phone Service: Good cell service for Verizon, and ATT of course was sketchy.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, The seasonal sites were well maintained.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? don't remember. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: One centrally located bath house, lots of showers.
pool, swimming, playground, pets allowed, dumping station,; Beautiful pool and playground area. No camp store, as they like to support the local businesses.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, nature trails. Close to the Vermont border, with lots of choices for restaurants, grocery, etc. Also a close drive to the White Mountains.
Last comments: If you want a quiet, peaceful camping experience to get back to nature, then this is a great choice. If you want tons of activities and a resort type atmosphere, then you will probably be disappointed. I loved Jacobs Brook Campground.

Oh no now the word is out and everyone will be going to this campground. This is a very relaxing campground, just the way we like it. We go here three times a year and totally LOVE it. Pen is a doll and always goes out of her way to make sure that everthing is O.K. with the site.
The seasonals are very friendly.
The bathrooms and showers are always spotless.
